Re: Northern Rebirth Rebirthed
I don't know whether it will break anything, but it seems odd to use exactly the same directory name as the mainline campaign.

Re: Wiki Improvements
For any of the pages that have manual copies of all the text in the campaign, it's worth knowing that there's already an auto-generated (although not as readable) copy in the translation files. That's not saying that you shouldn't do the manual copies, but I've been wondering about adding a warning ...

Re: How to build non "+dev" version from source?
It doesn't matter whether it's a detached HEAD or not - what matters is just that it's built from the commit that's been tagged "1.17.26". Technically, it's just a file in the source tree that gets changed when creating that version, and then immediately changed again in the next commit.

Re: Scenario Review - EI 11 - Lake Vrug
Have you seen Dacyn since he hid in scenario 1? Looking at the save file, Dacyn still seems to be hiding with only 4 xp, and the stats from S01 suggest you managed to kill all the enemy leaders before Dacyn reappeared. Strange, as the latest Wesnoth version is older than my installation and the one ...

Although it's listed as the only "known issue", if anyone sees the cache corruption bug then it's worth posting, and particularly if you can reliable reproduce it. The last responses in 1924 are from 18 months ago, so I don't know if it's been fixed, or if it's still happening a lot but no...

Re: Scenario Review: DiD 12 - Endless Night
Apparently they try to burn the book, and Malin says "Aaargh," and then the foolish hero says "Still, it seems to be hurting the lich." That "still" doesn't make sense. It feels like something is missing, like it should be, "The book is undamaged, but it seems to ...

Re: Arabic translation
Which campaign will you look at next? I'd be interested to improve the comments in it, and then get feedback about which comments are useful, which are excessive, and what else should be commented.

Re: I need help add terrains in new game versions to my Wesnoth 1.10 add-on
The
NEW:OVERLAY
macro was itself added in 1.13.7, in commit 8fdf689681ce03edf7aea44f24981614ca49157f. Aquatic Camps were first added in 1.13.6, so there must be a simpler version of them in that first release.- December 24th, 2023, 2:54 pm

Re: Arabic translation
Because 1.18.0 is planned to release in March 2024, 1.16.11 (releasing tonight, Dec 24th) might be the final 1.16.x release. Avoid translating the 1.16 version of Liberty, because one of the protagonists changed from a boy in 1.16 to a girl in 1.17. Other than that one, the beginner campaigns are fa...

Re: Wesnoth 1.17.24
From a player's perspective, which campaigns can be played in 1.17.24 without seeing text in English? Each list is in the recommended order for playing that set of campaigns, the same order as the in-game campaign menu. For every language which had a complete translation in 1.16.10, the status of th...

Re: addons in mutiplayer: how do addons work exactly in mutiplayer games
Your posts would be more readable and more likely to lead to improvements in the game if you organised them into proper sentences instead of having linebreaks apparently at random. However, if I understand what you're saying correctly, 8088 is part of fixing it, along with any issue that mentions Ou...

Re: Scenario 1: Rooting out a Mage
For anyone remembering that the campaign menu used to say "the Hard version may challenge more experienced players", those memories come from Wesnoth 1.8/1.9, and it hasn't said that for more than a decade. However, if we weren't in string-freeze then I'd open a PR to add something along t...

Re: Eastern Invasion, Revised (1.17) - Looking for Playtesters!
In S03 and S04b, the objectives use _("-OR-") instead of {ALTERNATIVE_OBJECTIVE_CAPTION} . Is there a reason to not use the mainline macro? I'm looking at this as part of 7994 and 8086 , and would like to add a translation hint if the mainline macro isn't used. Edit: also, the swamp herb a...

Re: Winds of Fate
I'm puzzled by Karron's part in the epilogue. At this point, Morogor is presumably ruled by factions who killed Vladnir and forced many flights, including Karron's, to flee. If she flies west, who on Morogor is going to allow her to rest and collect enough provisions there to fly to the Green Isle? ...
