Re: music submission, a work in progress...

There are a few things I've noticed though: several times over we are expecting the music to rise in volume, to a sort of climax, and instead we're left standing there while you go on to another part played by a different instrument. I think I know what you mean, there are parts where the dynamic d...

Re: New Music - The Gathering Storm

Thank you, I contemplated putting that "A" section at the end before I first posted it, but it never felt right to me. I went back and tried it again after you suggested it, but it still just doesn't have the same effect as at the beginning in my opinion. Which means, I suspect, we'll jus...

Re: Getting a critique

Hi there, Well I don't "do the music for the game" but I am an amateur/beginning composer, so I can offer some comments. The samples are the first thing that sticks out. If you want to make orchestral "wesnoth" sounding songs you will need some better samples (or some samples, so...

Re: song for feedback

Hello again, Just wanted to post another update to my song. I have worked on the solo bits some, and worked on getting the mix down. I think the cello solo (1:30) has improved but if anyone has any particular humanization tricks I might try there it would be appreciated... I also changed reverbs, I ...

Re: New Music - The Gathering Storm

I like it, odd time signatures are always cool. I agree there could maybe be some more low end happening. I like your brass melody as well....simple and I think effective. If you are settled on the arrangement I would just say that the transition around :48 feels a little awkward to me. If you aren'...

music submission, a work in progress...

Hi there,

Here is a piece I have been working on. I was wanting to write something a little more frantically battle-y than my previous piece so here is what I came up with! It starts loud... Critiques and feedback much appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: A Musical Revival

This is really cool. I would like to hear the A section just come back again, I like the trumpet lines in that section a lot. Great job pairing some of those different percussion hits together. Also really liked the dissonances you used around 1:10 and the harmony at 1:30. Maybe those are some thing...

Re: Request: Sci-fi music

Hey West, cool song by the way. I really think you get the horns to sound great, and it's a good blend of acoustic and slightly less acoustic sounds. Out of curiosity what DAW are you using now? Sorry if that's a little off topic :) I just ask because I am currently using cubase myself and wonder wh...

Re: song for feedback

Hi there! Thanks a lot to both! Yeah, I still hear some problems...for one thing I am still unhappy with the cello solo. I'm really sure it will sound good if I can just get it there, too bad I don't just play cello haha. I look forward to hearing some other ideas, I'm gonna continue to work on this...

Re: Request: Sci-fi music

Hi there! Thanks Dragonchampion, glad you liked it! It would be great with me if you decide to use it in your campaign, let me know if you do! Haven't tried TWoT yet but I will check it out this week when I have some time to actually play. As for tracks, I'll keep you posted if/when I do some more l...

Re: Request: Sci-fi music

Hi there!
Well, this is sorta random... It's feels a bit sci fi ish to me. Pretty synthy, I wrote it...for some reason? I'm not really sure why, but anyway, if it's interesting to you at all let me know. Take care!

Re: "The Adventure Begins" -- what do people think?

Hi there! I'm also an aspiring Wesnoth composer! I also like this melody and would like to hear this developed. This really brings to mind some of the RPGs I used to love playing! I could definitely see this fitting into a game of that type but it seems too cheery to me for Wesnoth. I might try to a...

Re: song for feedback

An Update!! Well, despite this taking WAY longer than I was expecting to get back to, I have done a "remix" of my song. I think it's a bit more effective compositionally. It's missing the fast part which people seemed to like, and I'm considering developing that into a companion song as we...

Re: song for feedback

Hi there, thanks for your comments! It's obvious that you've put a lot of work into this piece, there's a lot of things going on and many interesting musical details. And therein lies one of its main problems -- there's too much going on. It doesn't really strike me as a composition per se, i.e. a p...

Re: song for feedback

Hi there, I appreciate the suggestions! With the first 1:16 It starts loud, but then only repeats that theme once (at volume), till quite a ways into the piece. When it does repeat under the flutes it is very subtle and quiet, I missed it the first 3 times I listened to it. Yes, I need to remix 1:16...
