Re: Best and Worst MAINLINE campaigns and scenarios

I can't judge all the campaigns yet and my memories are too fuzzy to pick a best scenario. But the the Underlevels from THoT is the worst scenario, even worse than obviously unfinished scenarios. The reasons for this are amply documented in this thread. http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&...

Re: Favorite / least favorite mainline race

I have a sort of love/hate relationship with the rebel faction. I find elves annoying in general; tall, willowy, long lived, and seemingly good at everything, elves have been portrayed as the leet heroes of so many fantasy stories they make me want to puke. But, in MP I feel the rebels are really th...

Re: Will the footpad be nerfed in 1.10?

If the intent is to weaken the footpad vs undead, but not other factions, wouldn't it make more sense to change the footpad's damage type rather than amount? The impact damage is far less important against other factions than it is against undead. I would suggest keeping the ranged attack at 5-2 imp...

Re: What is the minimum amount of experience for recalling

I often recruit instead of recall, particularly early in the campaign, or in easy scenarios where i know I will have a ton of extra gold, to get a broader pool of trait combinations to choose from when recalling in later scenarios. I am constantly looking for the quick trait, particularly for units ...

Re: Best add-on campaigns

Flight to Freedom is interesting, it is a Default era campaign that features Drakes, which are rarely found in mainline campaigns. Even if you are familiar with Drakes from multiplayer, FtF adds several new Drake units such as workers and hatchlings. I have only played the first few scenarios, so I ...

Re: Free Panzer General on Wesnoth?

When I played my first Battle for Wesnoth campaign, I was strongly reminded of Panzer General. It has the same hex grid. It has units that carry over from one scenario to the next, increasing in strength as they gain experience. It has a similar fog of war system, and a similar economic system. Abov...

Re: General Criticism of the Mainline Campaigns

Maybe you can come up with a line or two to be added to the in-game help to clear that up? Shouldn't be much trouble getting that in the game I guess. Greetz HomerJ Maybe the following could be added (to the Gameplay/Income and Upkeep section of the in game help, and/or to the Wesnoth manual sectio...

Re: Bad luck? Read this

I suspect some of the people complaining about RNG fairness have a bias that comes from playing face to face games with random outcomes determined by die rolling. These people develop a belief that rolling dice gives better random distributions than computer random number generators. That belief is ...

Being pretty noobish, I am may not be posting this correctly, but I'll try.

Re: General Criticism of the Mainline Campaigns

When I resurrected this thread by posting on April 4th, I had hoped to take it in a slightly new direction, but it seems the comments are largely duplicating what was posted back in January. I'll make another stab at trying to make my point. There seems to be a consensus that changing the gold syste...

Re: Updated Story of the Wose

I just completed the Story of the Wose campaign on normal, using version 1.6.5. I have some comments. I found no fatal bugs, I was able to complete the campaign with no technical problems. I did notice a couple of minor graphic glitches. The wood mage gets 3 attacks at range, but the animation looks...

Re: DID- A Haunting In Winter

Yeah, I found this tough as well. I could clear the caves but not within the time limit. There are few key tips I found helpful. 1) The rebelling ghost event only occurs once. Once you have put down the rebel you can recruit more ghosts freely with no concern they will rebel. 2) While ghouls are nas...

Re: General Criticism of the Mainline Campaigns

I am a relatively new BfW player, I have only played campaigns, not multiplayer. I wanted to say that I found it counterintuitive that the game allows you to acquire large negative gold with no consequences. I sweated through several scenarios struggling to keep my gold positive before it finally oc...
