Re: An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Thank you very much for such a detailed and insightful response. I want this campaign to be played with different eras, including Ageless Era. Therefore, the third option seems out of question. I'll give the second a go then, as such an item will not occur more than a few times.

Re: An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Well, I just came up with an idea, where I could dynamically create new unit_types basing on the existing ones, then add the AMLA code into the new unit_type, and change the unit type to the new one. We don't even need to use the upgrade_to_something hack as the new unit_type is otherwise identical ...

An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Hello, everyone. What I was trying is to implement an item which, when taken, givens the unit an additional type of AMLA. However, I then realized that I have no luck in modifying the [advancement] tag inside [unit] then [unstore_unit] it, as [unstore_unit] will read the right advancement tag from t...

Re: How to balance your faction
You're not getting the point here: map balance is not universal. You could make an era that was hopelessly imbalanced on mainline maps that was perfectly balanced on its own map set. Just because the mainline maps are balanced for the mainline factions doesn't mean they are balanced for UMC faction...

Re: Era of Nonsense
This sounds really fun! (And your skeleton suddenly can beat other skeletons, because they do impact damage )Reepurr wrote:Seriously, why the heck would you have a skull for a hand and a hand for a skull?

Re: How to balance your faction
First off: please don't double post. We have edit buttons on this forum for a reason. Secondly: Units are not balanced against units, factions are balanced against factions. I'm pretty sure that better era designers than me could come up with a situation in which a 14gp 10mp scout could appear in a...

Re: How to balance your faction
Perhaps, we should split the unit balancing issue into some seperated topics: 1. Get a faction balanced in a fixed context. For example, you made an era of 7 factions and try balancing them, or you made a faction and try balancing it against all default factions. In this case, you have to care about...

Re: How to balance your faction
The first problem is you have set a wrong title. This post isn't about balancing the factions, but balancing the units. However, I do feel that it's a solid base for balancing your basic combat units. Perhaps you should add discussion about berserk, firststrike, charge, magical, marksman, drains, st...

Re: Default +3 Era: Templars
The art actually aren't bad. Extending default eras doesn't mean you have to start with mainline quality images. Something I want to say: 1. If you want to extend the default era, do please balance your factions carefully, against each faction (this is very hard!). It might be a good idea to prepare...

Re: Ageless Era - Released Version 4.1
First, let me report a new bug: The "AE Wind Elemental" has a placeholder image, and crashes the game when updating. Then, let me repeat the request to remove all energy attacks. They are obsolete everywhere, aren't they? Finally, I've heard that almost everything in Ceresian is imba. I st...

Re: Ageless Era - Released Version 4.1
(not a bug report) some units still have "energy" resistance... Especially I met some units whose only vulnerability is energy which doesn't exist anywhere... I think it's time to remove these energy resistances and rebalance the resistances a little...

Re: Ageless Era - Released Version 4.1
Another problem: Ageless RPG era doesn't contain undead units. Yes, it doesn't contain either the original undead, or the extended undead.

Re: Ageless Era - Released Version 4.1
I also think vector is a bit too broken. As an idea its cool, but the execution is overpowered. Maybe you can look into this. If I may make one suggestion: vector to work only on lower level units. I think it plays well with the flavor of it as well. I'm not aware of what vector is. However, I see ...

Eventide in Ageless Heroes is buggy: can't recruit, AI crashes, etc.
