I didnt say run i said a fighting retreat maybe 1hex per turn using a reverse leap frog technique

If i have enough men i often in stead of retreating bash my way to a defensible spot forward of me during the dusk if im lawful it can overextend me though

ya i just gave one example of what happened at marathon that could be used here but i think that it would be better to use a fighting retreat in the middle so you have enough men to keep them from bursting through the middle

1) these are theories but, you can try them and learn to use them these are not straightforward to the battlefield

2)i never said they couldnt get out i said that they could not mount the mountains to flank the edge like horsemen commonly do they would be funneled in

honestly you just need to learn how to parallel factions in your head and specialize in one or two and you can adapt to the rest yes i like using elves but im as good or at least solid in all factions but its easier to slip up in those were im not actively aware of potential weak points

I always end up with 10-20lv3 and 2000-4000 gold on this because i do mostly easy but did medium once or twice

randomized when i played it on 1.7.4 it was static and there is a web of ways through it.
(one time i stuck harper in a village to be attacked then slipped him out messed up the whole thing so easy to get through)
