Re: German Forum yes/no?
Actually I started on the internet in 1998 on AOL dialup. All I knew was chat room/ IM text. When I started posting in game forums years later, it was a non English speaker who chastised me for not making proper sentences, caps, and punctuation. I followed his advise and found myself striving to use...

Re: German Forum yes/no?
I'm in my 50's. I visit another game forum that is in German. I use the gtranslate plugin for Firefox that uses google translate to read the posts. They had an English forum but nobody seemed to use it. I used google translate to make a post in their forum. One of the mods told me I did not need to ...

Re: (stupid?) question about "userdata" folder system in 1.7.11
Here is the path for the add-ons on my XP system
C:\Documents and Settings\PaulM\My Documents\My Games\Wesnoth1.7\data\add-ons
Get a map that works in 1.7 and look at the cfg files to see what that person did. For example any reference to campaigns must be changed to add-ons.

Re: Ranged Era
Papa, I got it to work in 1.7.+. Once I figured out how to use it, it works well. Bad thing is the AI can't use it and I only play AI. If you use it for ships to bombard shoreline units, you need to have a counter effect that can go either go over water (fly) or in the water.

Re: 18th Century Warfare Era 4.4.0(Final Version)
I just played a few turns on the Europe map 1.7.11
I need to figure out everything before I get too far. Nice job, lots of options.
You spelled infantryman as infatryman but that's all so far.

Looking forward to trying this on the weekend. I'm on call for my job and have a full plate of other game testing but I really want to give yours a good look.

Re: Ranged Era
To add to what Velensk said, other games that have range also have code to effect the damage that a projectile does based on distance, angle, terrain, armour, etc.

Re: Ranged Era
mich, nice to see you post again. I was able to get your era to work with the 1940 era. Thank you for your work on this. I had forgotten that the AI cannot use this.

Re: 1940: European Theatre "LITE" RELEASE!!! Dload @ Page 3
I've worked on this a bit. Mostly thinking. I took some copyrighted graphics from a game I own to test some ideas. The screenshot shows French infantry, Char B1 bis, Souma S-35. I'm not sure how the ellipses will work post 1.8. The goal is to make a platoon level era. To do: Learn WML Add Ranged Era...

I modified the cfg files to point to add-ons and got it to work in 1.7.9
Let me know if you want the files.

Re: 1940: European Theatre "LITE" RELEASE!!! Dload @ Page 3
Looks dead to me. He started out well. I think some square counter style background would be better than the flag and wouldn't have flip problems. Initially more generic units would be easier to create to see if the concept works. i.e. light armour, heavy armour, instead of unique tanks and guns. If...

Re: 18th Century Warfare Era 4.1.5(Final Version)
I modified the cfg files to match the Ranged Era syntax for 1.7.9
I was able to start a battle and recruit units.
Hope this helps and it works.

Re: 18th Century Warfare Era 4.1.3(Final Version)
On XP, download goes to My Documents>My Games>Wesnoth1.7>data>add-ons EDIT in 1.7.8 there is a userdata folder in the main Wesnoth folder for add-ons. In the EditingWesnoth Wiki it states: "Starting from Wesnoth 1.6 it can be in MyDocuments\My Games\Wesnoth1.6 on Windows XP or Documents\My Game...
