There utbs campaign has a lvl 1 naga archer with no lvl 2 or three. Also I prefere merfolk for there verity, although I don't know why the mermaids are naked.

Yes, I've done this too, but have seen my error. You shouldn't go back turns to save a unit for this leadS to bad gameplay. Even getting attached to one unit can be dangerous.
