Re: Vampires in Wesnoth
Vampires don't really fit into Wesnoth gameplay or lore wise. But then again, it really depends what cliche vampires are you drawing from? "Classic" movie vampires are better suited for Loyalists :) Let the Fencer become a vampire duelist. The monster type grotesque vampires could be upgra...

Re: Blade damage
Is it feasible to have ranged blade attacks?
Who wouldn't want assassins with (poisoned) bladed boomerangs?
It would be nice having both melee and ranged attack for every attack type, mainly for flavour reasons.

Re: Another interesting ranged attack idea
If there's a gamemode that lets you use unused strikes at adjacent units, that would be a fun idea, especially for a deathmatch mode. Its similar to the custom maps that let you attack all adjacent enemies.
That'll probably make certain units such as horseman/lancer too imba. A nice idea however.

Re: Descriptions: Saurians
The design of the saurians are probably influenced by jungle cultures, due to the lizard-like nature of the saurians. Place them with a primative tribal structure that originated in the swampy marshes where the humans in Wesnoth barely venture to, and you'll have a fairly isolated civilisation. Then...

Re: Drakes - some thoughts on Drake society, biologie and origin
The easiest thing to do is to assume that all Drakes are the same gender, or males and females share little distinction with only behavioral traits defining the gender roles. Then we can say all Drakes have the ability to lay eggs, where they hatch with or without fertilization (depending on popular...

Re: Countering Northerner Push
For me, Loyalist against Northerners are the toughest, they have low movespeed compared to Drakes, poor defence compared to Elves and Dwarfs on good terrain and negligible blade/ resistance for most units unlike UD. Thanks for the responses, I'll use your advice so (hopefully) I won't get smashed as...

Re: Modest ability proposal: Finesse
If the ability gives a minimum of 40% chance to hit, that shouldn't affect balance as much. It would only affect those pesky 70% units on good terrain, which makes the units slightly more useful against both elves and dwarfs.

Re: Countering Northerner Push
For Lawful factions - say you hold the line for first watch but you take heavy damage, would it be pointless to retreat? If you can actually retreat, you lose the advantage as you cannot counter-push at day as most of your units would be too weak. Also, if holding a defensive line, would it be suici...

Countering Northerner Push
On large maps or those that force you to split your army, how do stop the Northerners from pushing first night and taking your villages? This is very difficult for me when i random Loyalists due to their low mobility and high cost for mounted units. By the time night starts, I usually suffer heavy l...

Re: Favorite Unit
Lancers - There is nothing more manly then being able to possibly kill most lvl1 units in one turn OR DIE trying!
Saurian Skirmishers/Ambushers/Flankers - These guys are fast, annoying and deadly you never feel safe if they're nearby
Dwarfish Dragonguards - They got large Boomsticks

A few things
I enjoy playing Wesnoth and I was wondering if it was possible to add some sort of built-in music player in the game where you can select tracks from the original soundtrack as well as play custom music? This probably would take a bit of effort but would this idea be possible? As well, is there some...

Re: You think a faction is overpowered? Come here!
Just asking a question, would giving the thunderer impact attack change the balance much?
I personally would love having my thunderer rifle butt something but would it make it too strong against undead?
