Re: A Group in a War: 1.14 SP simple RPG campaign

The guideline says addons should be roughly comparable to PG-13 or ESRB T. I thought less frequent use of f-word might be allowed... # I am not familiar with those rating systems, though. Anyway, that word is nothing important in this addon. I replace that f-word to a very peaceful phrase, "Da...

Re: A Group in a War: 1.14 SP simple RPG campaign

*Crawls out of grave* Man, I've been dead here for six years ever since I was recruited as a level 1 unit by the local leader in his keep lol (aka conscripted) and your campaign was so fun it brought me back! Good job on necromancy by fun campaign! Anyway, I don't know why but when the deserting tro...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Well that's the part I'm worried about, seeing that developers would normally post quite frequently... But then again, like what Daravel said it's only been 2 weeks, so it's not exactly time to worry yet. It's quite successfully made thus far, and he's got one thing on mainline, so I doubt he's givi...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Yes... That's another technique that I used. Let nature spawn its wolves and sea serpents and stuff, and they can actually protect you. You can do the same with multiple factions- The elves and bandits would attack the orcs, say. Don't rush one faction when there are multiple ones. Instead, form an ...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Hmm yes... I'm thinking ramparts could level up like regular units (representing fortification that is upgraded due to constant and expected attacks), and we could have worker units that 'heal' them, or you know, they could have limited 'regenerative capability, such as say 2-4 a turn, and 4-6 if th...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

You know, come to think of it, having walls that are units would be an interesting idea, if unorthodoxed- but then again, every new idea that became mainstream starts out unorthodoxed. But I'm thinking we shouldn't exclude encampments. Maybe we could have both, you know, to suit players who prefer t...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Hmm... Seems funny that while walls, even stone walls, can be traversed with ease by enemy units, gates could not be... I'd like to imagine that a castle hex is representative of a complete fortification, complete with towers, gates and barracks with multiple adjoining hexes forming a bigger complex...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

The idea of having the wall... Doesn't seem to fit seeing that we already have walls that can be garrisoned by units. Plus, the idea of a wall that cannot be scaled by units seems farfetched seeing that mountains and water alike could be traversed. Also, it feels like a gamebreaker, and the AI may n...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

I didn't count my farms actually... Basically, I just built as many as I could. It's going to be tough though, and I did have a few failures before hand that I couldn't account for- could likely due to be the terrain. I noticed that I fail more often in maps where I built my colony on one side of th...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Hmm... Since fiblo kind of wrote a post about victory, I might as well do the same. Basically... I won the campaign in normal difficulty as well, but it didn't even take a full year for me to win. Basically, I won on the first turn of winter in the first year :P. Basically, what I did is that: 1) I ...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

lol, after like some 10 failures, I've finally won the campaign at normal difficulty :). In the interest of protecting the campaign's fun factor, I won't say how I did it until the campaign is fully complete, at which point it may already be outdated, the info. Anyway, build another building of the ...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Hmm I didn't make the connection between the artifacts and undeads. Now that you mention it that could be the trigger. Good idea, though I still think it's funny to have it spawn in the middle of your settlement, in farms and stuff. OMGosh Corpse farm!!! :D I'm thinking it can be fixed using some of...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

I was playing the campaign again, and I noticed something... 11) All manners of undead units kept popping up at my farms! They kept a few of my troops busy for two or three seasons, how on earth did they get there? Sometimes it makes me wonder what the hell my farmers were farming, or what kind of a...

Re: Cities of the Frontier (aka sim-Wesnoth)

Hmm... Played your campaign a few more times, and I realised that what the others were saying about enemies spawning too close to the base have relevance still, so... 6) Yep, it's a problem that needs to be fixed, because there was this once recently that a sea serpent and a level 2 wolf assaulted m...
