Re: Humble Indy Bundle #2

Again (since no-one noticed my post): I checked on the website and saw no time limit. How long is this going to go on for? The on the upper right, the time left counter: 5(days) : 20(hours) : 41(minutes) : 36(seconds) It's the butchered quote that makes it sound wrong. What I understood is that he ...

It's the butchered quote that makes it sound wrong. What I understood is that he wants to play test first and later on pay the real amount.

Cavalrymen have somewhat high HP, assorted resists and high mobility.

Why not also give them the same treatment that drakes get: 30% defense in flat.

Re: How to play - Drakes vs Rebels - Huumy

I don't think there's anything wrong with a mix of the 2 types of units but it gives you a mostly neutral army which often leads to a boring game IMO so I try to specialise as one of them and saurians get run over by mass fighters a bit too easily for me. Not entirely true. Units die. Units get rec...

Re: How to play - Drakes vs Rebels - Huumy

Something that bugs me alot about rebels is the free shots archers get vs Clashers. Their resistances don't give dextrous archers extra damage (unlike drake fighters, 7-4, ouch), but those arrows still hurt quite a bit. I've wondered for a while if burners could be used as part of the ZoC wall. They...

Good, you have to pay less upkeep than him. :D

Re: How do you controll water with undead?

Basically, there is no "water" unit (as in can move though it freely) other than the drakes that can really mess with the undead. For example, Gryphons, Mermen, Naga all have pierce/blade weapons. And drakes have such crappy defenses there that even if you put a skele archer there they mo...

Re: 1v1 Replays! (THE ARCHIVE)

I don't exactly consider it a disadvantage. It's more like a trade off. The opponent can gain extra gold and start spamming units. But he/she is more likely to lose those units trying to steal/hold villages on enemy territory (specially against heavy hitters, like drakes). He/she will likely need to...

Re: 1v1 Replays! (THE ARCHIVE)

Drakes need not protect all of their villages all the time. The cost of protecting a village in terms either HP (if unit survives) or gold (if it doesn't) frequently makes it holding a village the worst of the two evils. But drakes are well suited (speed/damage) to kill (or trap/kill) the village st...

Let's see, units that can move easily/semi-easily thru water hexes: Flyers: Drakes(fire breath),Gryphs(blade),Bats(blade),Ghost(arcane) Swimers: Merman fighter(pierce),Merman hunter(pierce),Naga fighter(blade) Other than drakes/undead, the units that could attack water hexes have either blade or pie...

Re: B.U.R.S. (Bizarre and Unusual Recruit Styles)

@Just_end_turn: IMO, it was a mistake of him to not counter the melee/lawful drakes with ranged/chaotic units of his own: poachers, of which he recruited none. Dwarves and gryphs can be really expensive, I mean he got outnumbered by drake fighters, that's just not right. xD

Re: so, after 1.9, what?

I vote for the SHA-1 hash (or any unique initial substring of it) of the source tree as the version numbers:
718fd738eed290a32c34e93d57f371f1a794f0ef
Note: Not the actual SHA-1 hash of any Wesnoth source tree

Or maybe we can start naming releases. Dunno, maybe names from the campaigns.

Re: Peasant Blocking

On the latest versions the motions of his right hand are kinda weird. First it moves up, then down (grabbing the pitchfork), then up again (as he winds up to attack), then another frame of wind up, then down for attack. All of that together makes his motions to feel very robotic. I didn't get the sa...

Re: How to play - Northeners vs Rebels - Huumy

Drake Burners OTOH have 6-4 ranged as base. :P I feel players often underestimate them, they are the heaviest ranged hitters of all lv1 units and their melee retal is quite good for a ranged unit. Which of course is compensated by their ridiculous cost: 21 gold. :augh: True. Which means some though...
