Re: Lancers suck!.... in Campaign
Two cents:
1. This should be in the Strategy & Tips forum, not the Ideas forum.
2. Cuttlefish benefit less from Strong because they lose strikes quite rapidly as they take damage.

Re: Deathknights
Skeletons and Ghosts are both 'soul-possessing' Undead beings, unlike Walking Corpses, although the soul is normally enslaved to the will of the controlling necromancer. This means that in the hands of a sufficiently weak or unskilled necromancer, or in the rare case of a sufficiently strong-willed ...

Re: Wraiths vs Shadows
In DiD I use a mix of both Wraiths and Shadows - Wraiths are a better general combat unit, but Shadows make nice assassin units and do much more damage, especially against arcane-resistant opponents (humans in general, and most egregiously the light-wielders in the third-to-last mission). In MP I'd ...

Re: Spearman promotions
In campaigns, I make quick Spearmen into Pikemen and non-quick ones into Swordsmen. That way they'll both have 6 moves at level 3. They both have their uses; Royal Guards are certainly better against the hordes of Orcs and Trolls seen in campaigns, but Halberdiers I'd have to day are superior in a f...

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions
Some more descriptions, advancements of the Arif and Rami. Saree: Saree are those Khalifate riders who have dedicated themselves to perfecting the art of horseback archery. These experienced Rami wear light armor and ride the fastest horses known to the Khalifa people, using their speed to move swif...

Re: [Mainline] Replace the 'Marksman' weapon special
I would oppose this change as a replacement of the existing Marksman ability. The present Marksman is extremely useful in its role - by reducing 60% and 70% defenses to just 40%, Elvish Marksmen (and Sharpshooters) are excellent at striking entrenched units and cutting down elusive types. The new Ma...

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
Another 2v2, this time on Loris River. Scatha's Khalifate + DrakeKing's outlaw Knalgans vs. my Khalifate + kewl's Loyalists. DrakeKing had lost an earlier Hodor game vs. Scatha when his Rogue was killed by an Arif and Jundi; here he exposed it again and it summarily got killed. Footpads are presentl...

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
It's kind of clear that the lack of any impact resistance makes these guys vulnerable to Troll spam, Woses, HI and corpses with no defense other than trying to kill them first. I would suggest the horse movetype get +10% impact resistance - both the Khaiyal and Rami. It would make the Rami more usef...

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions
Some more unit descriptions, for the level 2 and 3 advancements of the Khaiyal and Hakim. Tabib: Having been exposed to combat and forced to defend themselves, some Hakim have gained skill in the use of mace and shield, and have become warriors in their own right. These men, called Tabibs, are equal...

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions
^ Yes, exactly.
And besides, johndh, you may notice that I already used something like the style you mentioned on the Arif and Khaiyal descriptions.

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions
"Efficacy" is a word, yes. It doesn't work better than "efficiency" here (its meaning is different), but it is a word.
The wiktionary meaning is: "Ability to produce a desired amount of a desired effect."

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
Excellent. ^_^ Will do as soon as I get the time to play some proper test games. That does mean incomplete 0.7 games are invalidates, but that's no problem. So that fixed the Qanas anomaly. But does that mean that if a Khaiyal levels into a Faris while it's standing on a mountain or swamp hex, it ha...

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
Or you just fuse the movetypes, like I suggested. It barely changes the balance. Heck, if you want, keep the 60% hill defense until there is more balancing pressure to remove. But the two movetypes are confusing.

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
throwing axes would also make sense since they fight with axes in melee as well and it would fit nicely into the lore. giving desert people a cold malus (-10%) would solve many problems at once, too. we would be able to see more interesting day/night cycles against the ud and drakes (similar to loy...

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions
Maybe you should change the word term into something like name, term sounds too "techical" IMHO. Also, the Khaiyal doesn't have the charge ability in their attack so may I propose a minor change to your description. Changing 'term' to 'name' would change the meaning a bit. Khaiyal probabl...
