Re: Valk's Art Dump
If I might ask a few questions, to better understand the character... (likely I am voicing questions for others as well) 1) How does he get anything done in that huge heavy suit? I know if I were loaded with blades, thick banded armor and massive capes I'd stagger around the battlefield, unable eve...

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Your character is cool, but how does he grab his swords? Don't you think his sword and sheath should be on his other side- so that he reaches across his body with his right arm to remove the sword? Other than that, it's a good drawing. I like all the detail. I direct you to this video to answer all...

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Going to color him soon. Probably add more detail along the way.

Re: Valk's Art Dump
The landscape is coming along, but the atmospheric perspective is still a bit wonky and I'm not sold on the overall design of the castle place.
Also a fun little character rough I started today.

I am still enjoying 3D, but I'm still a 2D fella at heart.

Re: tekelili: Totally noob questions and stuff
Snapfiles.com has a free copy of Photoshop CS2 for download. Been playing with it on my new windows machine. I don't recall if it does anything with animation, but it does work with transparency.

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Very quick and dirty normal map projection. Took the model down from 1mil polys to 4.2k and nearly the same level of detail. I do need to optimize the map and tweak the mesh a bit to fix some rough edges, but otherwise I'm pretty pleased.

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Update on the 3D. Been playing around with varying processes of high poly modeling and I think I've found one that works for me, more or less. Here's my attempt at sort of low poly clothing. It's not really "low" poly, but there isn't enough there yet to give it as much detail as the model...

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Say, that model looks pretty darn impressive! 8) Is this a 100% personal project, or are you teaming up with someone else to make this game? A couple guys hired me to make some preliminary concept art for their game before they put it up on Kickstarer. The model is just my own thing to get back in ...

Re: Valk's Art Dump
So I've been learning 3D again. Still getting the hang of sculpting tools, but I think I have a pretty good start. I could probably start creating the mesh for the costume and the like soon, but we'll see. I need to work on the face more and try and clean up some other areas first. Also a preliminar...

Re: Valk's Art Dump
Is the monster meant to have three legs? If so, then I can't see anything wrong with it. The 4th is there. May not be able to see it depending on your screen contrast. This was done as an art test for a company. They loved it (and all my work!) however they wanted 3D. So in other news, I've been wo...
