Re: Additional Mage Specialization
I don't think red magi are necessarily specialised in fire. In Delfador's Memoirs and the backstory of Liberty they use magic to control earth, and Crelanu's invisibility potion isn't especially fire-related. I assumed they used fire in combat because it was the easiest element to fight with magical...

Re: The Tale of Crelanu
My 2c: In LoW and DM (which his book also comes into), I don't remember much suggesting Crelanu was unusually good with lightning magic. What he did seem to be unusually skilled at/experienced with was potions (his book described holy water and the invisibility potion) and things relating to magical...

Re: Ancient Lich Development
The only certain constant is a human skull, the one piece the Lich always retains from its original body, and usually at least one pair of hands, for the casting and preparation of spells. Isn't there an elvish lich in The South Guard? Given that, I'd think there could also be elvish ancient liches...

Re: Elemental Constructs Faction (WIP)
I had thought, from reading of it in a non-fiction book (talking about recurring motifs) that normally took it's examples of fictional and mythical things from old traditions, that the idea of salamanders, undines etc. as the elementals was an old idea. The wikipedia article on elementals cites a bo...

Re: The White Lich [Fan-Fic] (Chapter 18 - Preparing for Fin
Nitpicking: 1. In the game, creating undead is expensive. Here, I get the impression it costs nothing, given the right technique. 2. I get the impression almost the entire of necromancy as it exists by the time of TROW is being invented at once, long before. Is that unrealistic? I guess, since it's ...

Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium
If rarer spells aren't included, the sceptre of fire, the fire sword and the void armour shouldn't be included- so far as we know, each has only ever been made by one caster. There could be a category for the other magic artefacts, 'though. "Summon" is the wrong word, I think. It should be...

Re: Level 0s for every Level 1 - Humans
It seems to me there is a place for level 0 undead- all the mainline undead are weapons, but I would think some necromancers would have use for, and presumably be able to animate, undead for logging, craft, mining or building, which would probably be level 0. I think, from their villages being captu...

Re: Evolving Era
R.E. expectations: My expectation was that there would be custom traits something like these custom AMLAs sound, and each turn a new unit type would be created for each unit (called "child of [unit's name]"?), with that unit's actual stats as it's pre-traits ones. I don't know whether that...

I'm trying to transfer saves to a Mac OS X, and can't see any folder called Wesnoth_1.8 in Application Support.

Re: Idea: Labeling units
When I want to do this, I give the unit a title. For example, I renamed a footpad with an ankh (I forget it's name now) "bearer [name]".
A label might be more convenient, though.

Re: macro to deadvance unit. any way to trim?
You forgot to put a # at the beginning of enddef. Also, I find that I have to match the capitalization of the ID of units, but it might just be for using the recruit list. It wouldn't hurt to do it anyways. I might look more into your WML later. MODIFY_UNIT is used to alter an unstored unit. Using ...

Re: macro to deadvance unit. any way to trim?
My intention was to define a unit which, when it attacked, reduced the experience of the unit it attacked. If the experience were reduced below 0, the unit it attacked would be turned into something which could advance into it. I intended to make an attacker_hits event which stored unit2 and then ca...
