Re: Rise of Wesnoth - Fallen Lich Point
That's some epic thread necromancy! I'd nearly forgotten I ever played this game, and certainly any details about this particular scenario.

Re: Why, dwarves? Why?!
Can you still give commands to the AI? An old guide mentioned it, but the scenario didn't mention it, and I couldn't find anything about it, so I assumed that had been cut.

Re: Why, dwarves? Why?!
I'm not sure how I can send only a few troops to the trolls. The trolls are really nearby, and they come to me. I fought them from a good position on the edge of the forest, and while they're very tough, I had no problem defeating them or the orcs that came to their help. I think leaving those troll...

Why, dwarves? Why?!
Alright, it's not as dramatic as the subject sounds, but I'm currently playing "Elves Last Stand" in the Legend of Wesmere campaign. Olurf's dwarves promised to come to our help, but for most of the battle they were a no-show. Now, battle nearly over, they suddenly come to my aid in my saf...

Re: General Tips - Campaigns
Scenario: The Elves Besieged This is an extremely good scenario to start leveling your units, so don't rush through it too fast. Is this for 1.4.x? Because in 1.6, I've found this to be a terrible scenario for leveling units. Allies steal your kills, and the orcs hit hard. The scenario is not terri...

Re: Rise of Wesnoth - Fallen Lich Point
I had two Paladins, who killed the lich on the turn it woke up (or possibly one turn later). I also had two shock-troopers, but they were kinda useless in comparison to the Paladins (one of them did manage to do something useful, though). What I did was: race my main force south, while a handful of ...

Re: When exacly is steadfast activated?
So what's the point of Steadfast? I've only seen it on units that always have steadfast. So why not simply give those units standard increased resistances?

Of course that advice is always true: fight them on your own turf, not on theirs. Some factions are a bit more outspoken in what counts as their turf and what doesn't.

For single player: Aside from loyal... Quick is by far my favorite. I wholeheartedly agree with your entire post. I love mobility, and that's what quick gives you. It makes slow units keep up with the main force, it makes fast units, that get a lot of their value out of being fast, even faster. I l...

Re: HttT Help: Valley of Death
When I do want lots of cheap units against undead, I usually go for Footpads. They're fast, and their impact damage is useful against skeletons. (I like speed. I just fell in love with Silver Mages.)

Re: HttT Help: Valley of Death
I basically recruited waves of sacrificial thieves to tie up all the enemies.. I get the impression more people do that. The walkthrough in particular recommends sacrificing units regularly, but I never do that. I guess thieves make great cannon fodder, but I can never bring myself to sacrifice uni...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
I played a game whos name I recall as being panzer leader. I may just be not recalling it properly, or it may be a diffrent system. I don't remember the rules or play being especialy hard, but I've only ever played one scenario, and I'd assume that like SL it would introduce rules progressivly. Unl...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
There is a diffrence between how complex a game is, and how hard a game is. Wesnoth is not complex in terms of rules. My nine year old brother had no trouble learning it. He was never a good player, but he never had problems with the rules. But have you tried Panzer General? Those rules aren't sign...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
Why for children? Wesnoth doesn't strike me as a children's game. It tactical and trategic complexities that puts it in a similar league as Panzer General. Certainly not a game for little kids, IMO. I think more mature dialogue would help the game a lot. I wouldn't put Wesnoth anywhere close to the...
