Would it be possible to make something in the unit description that says something to the effect of "that what most units are like, but here's how the one you examined compares:" ?
This would essentially only apply with special items in campaigns, and units similar to Kaleh in UtBS.

I'm willing to contribute in this area. I'm pretty much horrible at art, and I would like contribute to Wesnoth somehow. However, I may not be able to work as often as several others... and I procrastinate a lot.

How do I place units and events in custom maps in 1.6? I was told that in 1.4 you just right clicked, but that has a different function in 1.6

Wesnoth Soundtrack
Before saying anything more, I would like to say that the composers have done a great job with the soundtrack. It's great music, and I was wondering if there was anywhere I could download the music so as to play it without having the game running.
