Re: I can't compile old-version Wesnoth

Given that he ran the command apt list libboost*1.65*, I think it's safe to assume he's running a linux distro.

Re: Wesnoth 1.14 on Android

It is on iOS as well, though for now iPhones get 1.10 and iPads get 1.14, due to UI issues.

Moved to Release Announcements, Compiling & Installation.

Adding the cmake warnings would be useful. For scons, you can check build/config.log and build/sconf_temp for more info on which test went wrong.

To add some more/summarize: fno-plt : GCC 6+, is a minor optimization flag that can be enabled along with full RELRO. -D_GLIBCXX_ASSERTIONS : Enables bounds checking for strings and containers as well as null pointer checks when dereferencing smart pointers, as per Redhat's recommended flags and the...

Re: Making a browser version of wesnoth?

If something working and playable was eventually produced, I would sticky the thread for it here on the forums, at the least. And while I obviously can't speak for other developer support, I would say that it partially depends on if you make something that can be contributed into the Wesnoth Project...

Could you provide more information on what they do? -Wl,-O1 : It looks like this wouldn't apply to regular executables? --sort-common : I'm not quite sure what to make of it. --as-needed : Sounds like an equivalent functionality could be achieved by just not providing unused libraries on the command...

Second question: should I target the master or the 1.14 branch with my pull request?
I'd suggest 1.14 since master is not currently in the best state, but fixes like this will almost always be added to both branches anyway, so ultimately it's up to you.
