Re: Enabling hardening options for Wesnoth's executables

Alright, in that case, I'll enable hardening by default tomorrow, unless there are any objections raised before then.

Re: Bug Report: The Rise of Wesnoth

Could you be more specific about what isn't working? Also, do you still have a save file where the issues occur?

Re: Enabling hardening options for Wesnoth's executables

Another question, I suppose, would be whether to enable the Wformat-security option. Wesnoth currently doesn't output any warnings when it's enabled though, and I don't know how useful it would actually be.

Re: Enabling hardening options for Wesnoth's executables

Based on the Debian build log , Wesnoth is already built there with -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 , -fstack-protector-strong , and -Wl,-z,relro . The new options from above then would only be -Wl,-z,now and enabling PIE. Of course, some players build Wesnoth themselves, and there are also other GNU/Linux dis...

Enabling hardening options for Wesnoth's executables

It was mentioned on Discord that it would be beneficial to enable by default the hardening/security features added in PR 3015 . To expand a bit on what it does: Makes Wesnoth a Position Independent Executable(PIE, info ). This allows it to make better use of ASLR, and is done vs the -fPIE -pie optio...

Re: Wesnoth 1.14 on Android

Stickied, the previous 1.12 thread is here. Also I assume the opening post should have some of the same info as the 1.12 support thread.

Re: DiD S2

BTW, all the mainline scenarios have dedicated threads in the Mainline Campaign Feedback forum, so this will probably be moved to https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=20331 soon. Those threads have a specific format of questions and answers, so just straight bug reports are fine here(or ...

Well, it is an FPI, so I assume the stance still hasn't changed much.

Re: [UMC][art]UMC_Portrait_Book

It perhaps wouldn't be useful to actually make the entire add-on a dependency of anything, but it would at least be quite a bit easier than trying to search through the entire forum.

Re: Default+Dunefolk era balance

Some people talked about changing the non-penalty to an actual bonus. I'm sure the units can be tweaked such that the math checks out the same as it is now. Hope that makes it feel better. Either way, it will feel different. It can definitely be tweaked so that the math works out just about the sam...

Re: 1.14 MP server login requirement

1) It appears the Linux version is only available as source code; means less players Uhh... There's a ppa. There's a flatpak. It's on Steam. 2) Ubuntu 16.04 is required, and apparently (after checking quickly) there's not even 16.04.1 available yet, while it's not recommended to install "16.04.0"; ...

Depending on your approach, there was a previous attempt at this, though it seems to have stalled out.
