Re: Favourite map
I like Hamlets for a quick, fun game. It also has the added plus of being visually pleasing, something that is almost impossible for maps with cave terrain (for my tastes). I'd rather have balance than visuals, to be sure, but why not have both. Fallenstar Lake is also one of my favorites, for this ...

Re: Favorite Weapon?
Not claiming that the sword might not require more complex training, but think of it this way. If you have not been trained with a spear, and someone is coming at you, you have once chance to get a thrust in before he's inside your reach... then you're done. ;) Not in Wesnoth, you have 33+ hp, don'...

Re: Multiplayer loser leaving the game
I think what OP means is: When he kills the enemy leader in a 1v1 game, it pops up with a "You have emerged victorious!" and then the screen does the textured effect and the whole victory thing. But, if his opponent hits "End scenario" before he does, he still gets the message &q...

Re: Unit weapon upgrades
"On the HttT Snow Plains level, you have to move someone to the big tree near the enemy leader's keep to find the flame sword. I think only Konrad can pick it up, though, or something like that." According to WML only leader. This includes Li'sar, FYI, not just Konrad. I believe Elvish ca...

To open the message box you press m. The command line is opened by pressing colon. This is show by the fact that all of the commands listed in the commands section of the help (named as such) have a colon before them. Think this could be made more explicit in help? Many people don't know how to ope...

I wonder about this as well. Why don't more games with registerable nicks use fonts where I and l are easily distinguishable.
like this
like this
Code: Select all

Re: feedback wanted for 2 custom maps
if u could specify why u think it would get bogged down, that would be more helpful. The paths between castles are very narrow. It would be easy to form lines of units that can be rotated with fresh units when the original units get damaged. Note that you only need 2-3 units to stop enemies from co...

Mainly situations where the attacking unit has a possibility to die from a counterattack before he gets all of his shots in. That and ulfserkers of course

Re: I'm Not Clear As To Who Are Loyalists, Rebels, and Outlaws
However, consider the opportunity cost of XP. Would you rather promote a priestess, or another Grand Knight? (Which takes less XP, by the way) Keep in mind the priestess is only useful on certain levels, while the Grand Knight is useful almost all the time (except on the river crossing and the cave ...

Re: Readability of the map: Village or not?
I for one have tried to capture a windmill when I was first starting out.I know one can already check on the information area top-right of the screen, but it does not seem like an intuitive solution to me.
I also once tried to capture the rock in the second HttT scenario.

In addition to the other things that people have said, the lich gets better movement -- 6 movement and can move through deep water.

Although, having a unit with both teleport and concealment would be pretty interesting.
