Re: Italian Dunefolk translation

There's no reason for being irritated. It's just that I also did a bit of work on this, and apparently for naught. :augh: I've nothing to say but thank you for your interest and work in submitting a .po, but why not use the names the community agreed upon? You only made things more difficult for yo...

Re: Italian Dunefolk translation

Actual translations, extracted from https://units.wesnoth.org/1.14/mainline/it_IT/mainline.html : Uhm in 1.14.0 there were no translations, and I've missed the memo that in the new version they were added. Who decided what to include? I mean, there are even some translations which have neve...

Re: Dunefolk translation

Can we consider Saracen ? From wikipedia Saracen was a term widely used among Christian writers in Europe during the Middle Ages. The term's meaning evolved during its history. In the early centuries of the Common Era, Greek and Latin writings used this term to refer to the people who lived in deser...

Re: Dunefolk translation

I agree that if we could find a better new name, invented from scratch, we should use that. Just I don't understand why we should focus on trying to reference the "Dune" saga, since it correlates to the Dunefolk only in name. I think it could be more interesting if we're able to find a connection t...

Re: Dunefolk translation

Aside from copyright issues, I find 'Zensunni' quite uninformative, and it will feel weird also for those who know those books (I personally don't). The whole renaming process was motivated by the wish of making names more understandable than the arabian-sounding versions. What is wrong with the li...

Dunefolk translation

Hi gents! I would like to share with you a small idea. Dealing wiht the italian translation of "dunefolk" race and the new dunefolk units, my sci/fi background reminded my about Frank Herbert's Dune books. At first, the idea was to call the race "Arrakis", like the true name of the Dune planet, then...

Re: New logo translations: Speakers of ALL languages needed!

The translations of following languages are using the english name for the game, so they don't get their own translated logo either: ... Italian (it) ... If anyone knows a good reason why these languages should get a translated logo, please let me know. Italian native speaker and translator here. T...

Agree, but that long, red line in the gettex site is quite... annoying :)

wesnoth-ai

Hi there! Quick question: can someone suggest a way to test the translation of file wesnoth-ai/LANG.po ? I'm translating wesnoth-ai/it.po, but this can be a more generic question.. I've already checked the "-t" flag and it is not what a translator is in need of... at least, since I wasn't able to fi...

Re: Wose in italian

Non conoscevo il termine... imparo qualcosa di nuovo! Il dizionario cataloga "dendroide" come aggettivo e non come nome... però è interessante che "dendro" utilizzato come prefisso o postfisso ha valore di "albero", "di forma arborea", quindi magari si potrebbe coniare un nuovo termine... Ci ragiono...

Terrain Codes

Yo men! Completing the italian translation for the editor, I just noticed that toggling the "Draw Terrain Codes" flag in the "Map" menu produce codes in english and not in the selected language, both on the map and in the right palette. For example, in Italian we have "Green grass" translated as "Er...

Re: Translation Policy... perhaps something need to be chang

Hello to everyone. My 2 cents contribution, as one of the official translator. A small discussion is going on in the "official" italian mail-list of the translators, since Luciano made a step back due to his personal status. He proposed me to step-in as maintainer and I accepted his invitation as ca...
