Knalgan vs Loyalists
This is triggered by someone saying that one of the more troublesome match-ups is Knalgan vs Loyalists. Which one is considered to be in better position on standard maps and why? Any tips for either race? I've read the general how to play guides of both but these are super generic. It basically says...

Re: Very interesting talk on Random Number Generators
A part of becoming better at wesnoth is developing a sense of how the randomness works. Having different configurable options for randomness would mean that it's harder to learn it. If there are 2 discrete choices then it's maybe 2x harder but if you introduce a slider that allows to change chaos le...

Random map generator utility (beta)
I made a small random map generator that works with templates. Templates are text files that have a list of commands. Combining these will allow you to create all kind of random maps with predictable structure. The result will be a scenario file that you will put into wesnoth/data/multiplayer/scenar...

Re: Infested Caves
Played it back in the days on the hardest difficulty. The tactic was to rush everything to the east to the big room as soon as possible. Create walls with footpads and try to avoid being surrounded. The only goal is to keep the pathway open enough to move further east each turn. Most of the footpads...

Re: Faction statistics
The amount of matches is not sufficient to make so fine distinctions. With a few hundred matches you can see if one faction is maybe 3x better than the other or not. But 5% here and there can be just randomness.

Re: Scenario Review: NR 12 - Get the Gold
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Nigthmare (wesnoth 1.8.6) (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 2. Complited it on turn 6/25, using 5 recalled dwarven lords and starting units to melt my way through orc ranks to the leader. The distance is really short so th...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 13 - Showdown
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Nightmare (wesnoth 1.8.6) (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 5 - I've finished it before on easier difficulties and it doesn't seem difficult at all, it just takes a lot of time. (3) How clear did you find the scenario obje...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 4 - Clearing the Mines
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Nightmare, version 1.8.6 wesnoth though (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 7. I've played this many times on different difficulty settings and never found anything hard, once I knew there will be ghouls. At nightmare it got...

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Nightmare, version 1.8.6 wesnoth though (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 3. Once you realize that one of the AIs can (almost or entirely) kill the other, it get's really easy. Just wait and then send every unit to the lea...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 2 - Infested Caves
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Nightmare, 1.8.6 version though. I hope most of these things have been fixed but: (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 10, most difficult scenario. I started with 728 gold, leader level0 with 50% xp and loyal spearman. I thin...

Forest of Fear stalemate issue
It seems to be slightly too stalematish between side 4 as knalgan vs side 1 elves. If the unit numbers have got rather high and elves hold the 23rd vertikal line with a fish, wose, archers, fighters and dwarves hold the villages and mountains to the left. As knalgans you cant really go through the m...

Re: Descent into Darkness
Necromancy is not cool for medieval people because after you die you are supposed to be left alone to chill and take your time as a dead person. Not to be pulled back to life as rotten corpse to do dirty slave tasks :annoyed: The guy who trained Malin (I believe?) wanted the book because the book wa...

Re: Descent into Darkness
Don't know if the creator of the core storyline is still here (or already descent into darkness) but did you consciously use "Hero's Journey" on the storyline? It looks awfully lot like that! And is great campaign

Re: New MP map Treasure Islands please test
This layout looks very interesting. However if anyone wants(!) to be annoying they can hide behind various chokepoints with (a healer and) a few tough units for a very long time. Like take a bunch of ghosts and trolls into upper left corner. There are many 1vs1 chokepoints and nearly nothing can bre...

You could melt the screenshots together into 1 image to make it easier to understand.
