Re: Skeleton Warrior

Own experience : practice drawing each member separately (with medical artistic stuff as reference for example), and be sure to understand articulations possibilities and limitations (the arm is an amazing ingenious machinery), bone proportions and so on. Anatomy studies helps a lot !

Re: [WIP]Skeletal Archer, portrait

Metal, rust, bow. Couldn't manage to shade the skull correctly yet, however it's been slightly improved.
Neither convincing moss texture, I'm still working on it  .

Re: Generic Orc portraits

Tried to make one (actually, I just had fun with coloring, and my sketch came out as an orc). He may look too human though.

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

Thank you kitty :) Regarding eyesockets (specifically near the nasal bone I imagine) , they are both angled upwards as shaded, but the thick linework contradicts. Going to be reshaped. I was afraid of dark plastic aspect, should certainly add some highlights. If someone's interested, I found great r...

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

@ thespaceinvader & Turuk : Okay for the skull's shape, I'll sharpen some ridges and do something with the eye. @ LordBob : thank you for the note. Regarding metal plates, I added some rust, but it seems to have been thinned down by my overall tone layer. I'll give it more strength. Once more, thank...

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

Wow... really no one change you loved ? For the arm and eye sockets, I won't do anything : because the anatomic improvement regarding the arm is now so obvious to me that the previous version hurts my eye, and because eyesockets are designed to be a hint for shading. I didn't do much with the ...

Re: Return of the fencer, part deux

[Debatable personal opinion] I *love* the new facial design ! But the whole character attitude looks a bit artificial and inexpressive to me. Don't forget that campaigns take place on battlefields : classical artists are sure an excellent reference to work with, but keep in mind that characters are ...

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

Here is a better view on the pelvis area : 3 pieces of plate armor, an enormous belt hanging from the rear iliac crest.

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

Thanks for your reply Sapient ! Do you mean better as "much better, how could you do such a regression, you're in disgrace!", or "the previous one was much more thrilling to discover than this last attempt, but it's quite the same actually" ? I'd like to improve my linework if necessary, but don't f...

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

I've tried to fix those last odds, here is the work :
skelarch_draft2_line_complete.png
Bow got thinner again
Eyes have been redrawn
Background arm proportions reduced a bit, I think it does a lot for the layout
Pelvis width reduced
Some ribs fixed
Buy bananas
Pay the phone bill
...

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

Thank you kitty :D -I've noticed about the hand, may I thicken those lines a bit since it is in the very foreground, I'll also try to shade in a way that the hand is the element to be focused on, and not the bones/quiver in the background. -I'm afraid to be guilty of laziness when I designed the pel...

Haha, you've got a point! I forgot to fix the shoulder position after the multiple chest redraws, should be okay now :)

Re: [WIP]Portrait, first contrib.

@ Skizzaltix : thanks for the advice, I don't want to simulate eyebrows expression with the skull, but eye sockets are quite too wide open! I'll close them a bit. @ Turuk : Bone removal is planned : this poor guy would have died from a lethal lateral attack when he was aiming, which perforated his c...
