Re: Project direction ideas moving forward

If I am getting this right, Haldric offers a fresh start. This is tempting as it solves many (all?) issues with that terrible custom engine the game uses at the moment. But sacrificing all UMC in the process is a bad idea in my opinion. It does, but as you say, going full 3D would be a 2.0 in a muc...

Re: Project direction ideas moving forward

I'd be open to it at least, but it would need to be something that the current team as a whole agrees we should do (also the github repo looks like it's pretty outdated?). It's possible Bitron created a fresh repo when we went 3D and you were looking at the old version? The one we've been working o...

Re: Project direction ideas moving forward

My impression was that Haldric has more or less turned into its own thing, which while being Wesnoth-like in some ways, also no longer had the goal of being "Wesnoth 2.0"? Yes and no. Haldric did turn away from being "Wesnoth 1.x running in Godot" because it was a daunting task ...

Re: Project direction ideas moving forward

I don't think that's the problem. The thing that holds back the transition to another engine is our engine itself , with its complexity and with the lack of a suitable replacement (the Godot effort, sadly, didn't bring us Wesnoth 2). On that specific topic. The Godot effort at its highest was never...

Re: Grand Portrait List - 2020 update

Not in the forum. The listing is meant to keep track of what's done and what's missing, eventhough it was kinda derailed by later discussion. I should update it now that 1.16 is released and some of these portraits have been completed. If what you're looking for is a preview of these portraits, they...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

Thanks, you're right on both accounts. I will fix that during the week. I had kept the spear tip dark so that it would detach clearly from the sword, but I did not consider the scale pattern behind. A bit of simplification should do the trick. The tail, I think, is also a matter of brightness : both...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

Last one, hopefully still in time for 1.16 - the ophidian.

Also, both portraits cropped and ready for use

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

It has been a loooong time. I know this is extremely late, but if possible I will try and squeeze in the last nagas for 1.16. Starting with the Ringcaster ; colors are different from previous naga unit lines in order to match the Dirkfang. I'll have the final cropped portrait tomorrow. I would sugge...

Re: Dunefolk fighter portrait

According to this , the entire faction will be getting portraits sometime between 2021-2022. Thus, a temporary placeholder at this point seems rather irrelevant. It will. 2022 is likelier seeing where we currently stand and how I didn't do as much as I had planned for 1.16, but Dunefolks are defini...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

For the shaman, I wonder if some (glowing?) mushrooms around the base/roots would work? Also, the darker reddish lines are a vine, I assume? Agreed, glowy things would add a much-needed magical vibe. The red lines are indeed a vine that I added as an afterthought when I noticed my shaman was so far...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

The wose shaman is something I've been working on for a while. I'm not completely satisfied with it, though, the foliage is giving me a headache. However, fixing it would require that I take a step back, do lots of tree & style studies and possibly redraw all of the leafy parts, which I would sa...

So, on the list of things that were long overdue.

I may commit them myself next week when I have time, but if someone is faster be my guest

 Currently, on my hard drive and without a transparent background. You're right, I absolutely need to get this part done. Will get to it this week.

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

Thanks for the feedback guys ! I will revise the bottom robes of the Jinn, you're right that it's a lot blockier than the rest. You don't necessarily need to get the nagas done, but we do need the Ophidian design finalized soon if we're going to stay on schedule. Dart could work, but this is fantasy...
