Re: New scenario concept: "Worldwar"

Is this scenario still downloadable? I didn't see it when I went to load "addons" from within BfW.

Thanks.

Persistent World

Hi, I have an idea for a persistent world system: The player would be presented with a persistent world on a webpage; perhaps the world would be shown on a Wesnoth multiplayer map that he would download. I would assume that a region on such a map would be comprised of a number of hexes. You don't wa...

Re: The Isle of Alduin, a short story by Hushpuppy, in parts

Thanks for the reply. Well I guess silence is golden, and I can take the hint. That said, in what way might you ("you" meaning "anyone") suggest I attempt to contribute to the world of Wesnoth? If my writing sucks, I'll accept a "Don't quit your day job, 'Puppy!" Otherwise, maybe I jus...

Re: Fluff explanations for weaknesses/resistances

2. The Cavalryman's cold resistance, in contrast to the Heavy Infantryman's cold weakness. Both are heavily armored warriors, it's just that one of them is riding a horse. Also, the Fencer's cold resistance. You'd think he'd get chilled harder because he has no heat-trapping armor, but the opposite...

The Isle of Alduin, a short story by Hushpuppy, in parts

Here is another story of Wesnoth. My intention as a writer and a fan is to write a short story about each battle of HTTT, to give the game "atmosphere". As I think of the campaign, I wonder: What kind of person is each one? Konrad? Delfador? Asheviere? What motivates them? How would they act in a ce...

Re: Introductions

Hello, Hushpuppy here. I cn spel, I can spell chek, and its a great day for a story its something I really like to do I like to write and right and stuff. My muse and me. I'm a computer guy (Linux SA mostly, but I like to program in Java too), not a writer at all and maybe not so humorous (...kinda ...

Re: Melinath's Descriptions: Drakes

Seems like the Hurricane Drake is like the Knight-at-arms of the Drakes. I too believe it could be embellished. How about this? Hurricane Drakes have risen above the menial hunting and gathering which the lower members of their caste are relegated to. Rather, they hone their skills in the martial ar...

Hmmm... my first two paragraphs are terrible. It's amazing what a little time and distance will do for you... :-)

I'll have to rework that, at the very least!

Re: Escape from Aethenwood, a Short Story by Hushpuppy

Thanks for the reply. ...I'll take a "not too bad" for my first contribution to the world of Wesnoth. :-) My ideas for Konrad came from the viewpoint hinted at in the campaign, and my interpretations of his situation: From the Campaign (paraphrased): "Eep! Orcs! What shall we do, Delfador?" said Kon...

Re: Looking for criticism on Fall of Wesnoth story and dialog.

Between 673 and 955 YW, the Kingdom was wracked by famine and civil wars as one petty warlord fought another to possess the crown I'm pretty sure "wracked" isn't a word, actually. Either "racked" or "wrecked", probably the first. See http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/wrack. The word "wracke...

Re: Looking for criticism on Fall of Wesnoth story and dialog.

I have been reading this over a few days, so if I repeat anything please forgive me. And as they say, "take what you like and leave the rest..." Here's my review: Scenario 1: properity (should be "prosperity") Too many commas. It breaks the flow. Examples: Between 673 and 955 YW, the Kingdom was wra...

Re: Looking for criticism on Fall of Wesnoth story and dialog.

In that case, wouldn't it be "The Orcan Nation"? Because "orcish" is still an adjective that describes a species. Although I didn't know there was a nation called "Orc", but I have not read all that there is to read about the world of Wesnoth yet...

Re: Looking for criticism on Fall of Wesnoth story and dialog.

A few more to add to the previous post: ... Cavalryman: The bad news is that there is a second army moving to join the orcish hord... "hord" --> "horde". Also "orcish" --> "Orcish", I believe. ... Why would "orcish" be capitalized? It's a species, not a nation. In other words, "orcish" is to "human...

Re: Tasks for writers

I think ancestral's posting above is right on. To add some flavor to Wesnoth, I wrote a short story. See "Escape from Aethenwood" in this forum.

Part 2 of 2 See part 1 for the copyright notice. ------------------------------ They came upon Chantal in little time. She was a vision completely incongruous with the night's events, walking erect, arms outstretched, holding her staff high, her other hand open, palm up. Her eyes were closed and her...
