Re: Facts of Funny and Ridiculous settings series.
Another funny/ridiculous setting I thought of--
Why is the Cuttlefish's ink attack a "pierce" attack?

Re: Facts of Funny and Ridiculous settings series.
I only brought up the thing about trolls not being made of rock because someone earlier had made a point about trolls vs. HI based on their weight (using the density of rock as the trolls' density). And while Wesnoth is not Lord of the Rings (or any other particular fantasy series/world), it borrows...

Re: Facts of Funny and Ridiculous settings series.
And by the way, Mushroom Groves ARE groves of giant mushrooms, and mushrooms DO require decaying organic matter in real life. Also, I would suggest that the Cuttlefish is not identical to the real-life cuttlefish of the same name, that doesn't have tentacles capable of killing humans and even toughe...

To anyone who thinks this is a "nitpicking" and "complaining" thread: Please read the title of the thread. This thread is for ENTERTAINMENT, and should be participated in for enjoyment (all this talk of "realistic" fire-creatures clearly demonstrates this :) ) Now that I've said that, I think the un...

Re: 90 Q. Wesnoth unit quiz (couldn't resist)
You Scored as Orcish Grunt. You are an Orcish Grunt: cheap, powerful, but effective. What? I "disagreed" when it asked whether I didn't get along with religious people and whether I enjoyed inflicting pain on others, and agreed when it asked whether I went to church, etc., etc. Perhaps I'm a religio...

Re: Enemy Units!
I had some trouble on that scenario as well. It turned out that I needed to go back and level some more units, and work up a larger amount of gold. Plus, you might find that your level-2 elvish archers (I'm especially talking about marksmen) won't win you this scenario. They can be very helpful, eve...

There are a lot of posts earlier on this thread that could legitimately go into a new thread called "you know you've been browsing the forums (or this forum in particular) when..."

Re: On what version did you first play Wesnoth?
I discovered Wesnoth just a few years ago on a CD of an older version of Knoppix (a Linux distribution, for those of you who don't already know that). I also found Wesnoth 0.8 available on tucows, which looked similar to the one that I'd played earlier, so I've decided to go with 0.8. Running Linux ...

Re: You think a faction is overpowered? Come here!
I'm still not sure why everyone has such problems with the assassins marksmanship. The assassin was already very likely to hit at least once. The marksmanship just makes it so that it works reguardless of what the targets defence and improves the odds that the assassin will hit more often for relat...

Re: Scenario Review: LoW 16 - The Chief must die
(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? 1.6.1 medium (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 4-5 (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Clear; kill the Orcish Sovereign and get back to the signpost before the invisibility wears...

Re: Scenario Review: LoW 2 - Hostile Mountains
I figured that the "east band" thing was some expression of either old English or a foreign dialect; I didn't realize that it was a typo! I needed to do a fair bit of saveloading as I had to figure out a good strategy for this map (it turns out that instead of rushing the troll and trying to hold th...

Re: Worst Trait/Unit Combinatons
I like quick on slow units. for me it is useless on units with speed 6 and more. intelligent is useless in the later campaigns. Strong is less usefull on units with less attacks. Take a human level one pikeman. I would make him a level 3 royal guard unless he has quick. then I would make him level ...

Re: Why Luck Belongs in Wesnoth...a personal experience
Now we're finding out why, as I read somewhere on this site, where there is a choice between simplicity and realism, the simplicity will usually win out. That being said, I started this thread in order to point out something that I think could've been in the "Luck in Wesnoth" rationale forum before ...

Re: If there's two tiles...for example a Village and Water
Just when I thought I had most of the Wesnoth "double tiles" (such as bridge, snowy forest, etc.) figured out (with much help from the explanations available in the "Help" window when you expand the "Terrain" section), 1.6 came out with forested hills (see the first level of the brand-spankin'-new L...
