Re: Separation of Movement & Line of Sight

Not adding it because it would require changes to default is a bit silly. Extra work shouldn't block progress, though I see the point. Add it as a possibility, then set some time aside somewhere down the road to figure out the sight lengths for units. Hell, just do it a little at a time. It's just n...

Re: A great idea for how to implement "illusion" units

No idea if certain bits can be done, but I have an idea. Always misses, always dodges. Dies the turn after it's attacked (So their turn they send two units to attack, both miss every attack, when your turn comes around it goes kaput) Select illusion to use via a right click menu that brings up your ...

Re: Children of Dragons

Is it just me, or is Khan almost entirely useless? Really weak for a level 1, so I tried feeding him kills hoping he'd have a great level 2/3 (See Konrad). But the level 2 is naff aswell :(

Not got too far, since I'm terrible and the campaign got hard, but is there a reason he's so weak?

Re: Scenario Review: DM 9 - Houses of the Dead

1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Easy 1.8 (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 1 (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? 'Find the signpost'. Can't really misinterpret that. Though if picking up the staff is required (As guy above said - I went ex...

Re: Elvish Archer or Elvish Fighter?

I tend to go for archers. Forests are pretty damn common, and most big hitters are melee. Actually, most units are melee period. Rebels have the best ranged units (Arguably), especially if you get dexterous. The frist thing you'll fight are usually scouts - Cavalry have no range attack and are weak ...

Re: Necromancer vs Lich

Dunno why I thought Silver mages had the arcane resist.

On a completely off topic and unrelated note, playing the AI and not recruiting anything but ulfserkers is fun.

Re: "Elves are not warlike by nature..." rant (spoilers)

For the elves, I think of them as annoying arrogant buggers with a tendency to start fights needlessly. Qucik point: the novice campaign that introduces you to elf tactics etc, along with orc units. I forget the name. Some orcs cut down some trees - They might have needed the warmth. They could have...

Re: Necromancer vs Lich

Couple of mages of light. Silver mages do the job well too, since they have that great arcane defence.

Alternatively, thirty six dwarven ulfserkers.

Re: The War of Terrador

The second campaign (Not the normal terrador one) doesnt work for me. I forget what was in it, but I got one of those error messages you have to click okay on 10 or so times to exit when I tried to start it.

For the axe, try going back to the first design for it. I could tell from a glance that was an axe. Try to keep that overall shape.

Re: Scenario fall-back starting points?

I've actually not played past the first scenario with those two; like I said, Im terrible. Though it does sound like it would be more detrimental than helpful. I was thinking more of stuff like HttT, The south guard and such. Easy ones that I can actually get all the way through :D Its starting to s...

Re: Scenario fall-back starting points?

The OP's proposal was your first essentially. I suggested a less extreme alternative that is similar to your B option, only instead of giving you extra predefined units, it added a little to your gold for that scenario or took a little off the enemies. Then I had the idea of expanding it to reverse ...

Re: A question about Necromancers...

Going to use a film example here. 300. Not a terribly good film, but its perfect for this. They went knowing they'd die, but went anyway to protect their home. If some necromancer guy came up to them and offered to reanimate 'em after they die so they could keep fighting, I imagine they'd accept in ...
