Re: In Memory Of

Thanks very much for that West. I'll see what I can do about panning and reverb levels--that helped a lot.

Re: In Memory Of

Discourage me? You've done the opposite, I feel encouraged! I am going to let this piece go and start work on a more theme driven piece, which I intend to be a fighting piece. As for this piece, the pauses were a bit much and I just couldn't keep a fluid melody because it felt like the song was goin...

Re: In Memory Of

Right, I'm confused about why the bells sound like they are cutting off. Perhaps they are at intervals too close to each other? I did nothing different from the beginning bells, so I don't understand why they sound cut off. The last bell ring probably doesn't sound cut off because there is not a fol...

Re: In Memory Of

Alright, I have made changes to make piece more powerful. You'll notice the addition of violins and change in the melody. Something about the music and the title is incoherent, so I am changing the title of the piece to Life After War, which might change again! Ah, well here it is. Enjoy. Life After...

Re: In Memory Of

Okay, the long pauses were shortened so the piece flows more and the glocks were softened. I also changed some of the harmonies and added some woodwinds for texture.

You may have a point there; it also seems that the glock may overpower the orchestra.

Re: A first attempt

I like the movement of the instruments at the beginning as well as the instruments you chose. For some reason the middle sounds a bit staticky (as in there seems to be a bit of extra noise). I think it ends a bit abruptly too. Nice piece overall.

In Memory Of

I intended this piece for title screens (not in-game). I tried to build atmosphere rather than create themes.

In Memory Of

Is it too quiet? I am not sure what players normally set their speakers at; I may have had my speakers turned up a little too much.

Re: Masters Of Wesnoth

Hmm... I don't remember seeing any Oryx Antelope in Wesnoth, is this a new faction?

Re: West's music development ideas

I like the idea. The piece I am currently working on doesn't have any themes (it is actually an attempt at Debussy's Impressionistic style of "broken fragments of melody, the outlines of which are blurred and indistinct" [an observation from Gloria Fiero's The Humanistic Tradition: Book 5 ...

Of course I am only joking (in some respects). Anyways, give me a couple weeks and I'll take a detailed look at the music and campaigns and so on.

Re: Too cute for Wesnoth?

The current problem, as far as I can tell, is simply that while we got you composers doing the pieces, no one is taking it as a project to start applying them across the various campaigns in suitable spots. As of now, my life is very busy with job interviews, tests, and applications. But I would ve...

What amusing replies. I've never seen such a display of personal philosophy when it comes to games. But really, I have no opinion.
