Re: Abandoned Campaigns - Need Maintainers - Open to Anyone

Hi, Daravel. You can delete Danse Macabre and Story of the Wose from your list, I already uploaded them to 1.14 add-ons server (I am their current maintainer). About "Aventures of Knighthood", I am porting it to 1.14, my progress is on GitHub: https://github.com/konecnyjakub/Adventures_of_Knighthoo...

Re: Porting add-ons - newbie to wmllint and wml

You picked addon that put its files in wrong location, see https://wiki.wesnoth.org/AddonStructure It might be easier to start with newer addons, 1.10 and 1.12 ones. Is it because its trying to pull mainline units? I removed all the unit and binary path and it worked - but would it then be able to ...

Porting add-ons - newbie to wmllint and wml

Hello! As I've posted here (https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48086), I'm looking to port over old add-ons to 1.14. The main snag is that my wml is fairly basic. I've taken a simple campaign and my aim is to get it working on 1.14, but I've already hit problems. I've made this thread to...

Wesnoth Porting Project

As I posted here: https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17171&start=283 I'm looking to port over add-ons that have been left behind on the older servers. This will just be complete (or mostly complete), but certainly functional, add-ons - rather than a wholesale dumping of incomplete conten...

Steam discussion boards

I recall this being discussed before, back in the greenlight thread I think. The Steam discussion boards are already becoming fairly active and several of them are questions or bugs/issues. I think the consensus before was that the Steam boards weren't going to be used by the dev team. But it might ...

Re: Abandoned Campaigns - Need Maintainers - Open to Anyone

Your list has Ageless Hotfix, which I admittedly mislabeled as era, instead of Ageless Era, which is on 1.14. There are also several cases where 1.10 era moved to 1.12 as modification. I believe this list would be more useful in google docs where everyone can suggest changes (including which addons...

Re: Abandoned Campaigns - Need Maintainers - Open to Anyone

Wow, thanks for this. I've just updated the Guide_to_UMC_content , archiving all the parts that were only for 1.12. The data for 1.12 was last updated in November, the data for 1.13/1.14 was added yesterday. The program for updating the WML might be wmllint - it definitely helps, but a lot of the w...

Re: Abandoned Campaigns - Need Maintainers - Open to Anyone

Hi everyone, With the Steam release I was nosing around on the discussion forums and someone was asking about RPG style mods - I directed them towards Gambciv and Cities of the Frontier. I realised that both are not on the 1.14 server and I got thinking about the list of unmaintained campaigns and a...

Re: Is Wesnoth mainly luck and not skill-based?

Don't you think you'd still be playing if, every now and then, you'd accidentally sneeze, or kick a wrench you didn't see, only to turn the corner to find the patrolling guard grinning and fingering his blade just before he slips it up under your rib cage? That depends on whether the accident is my...

Re: Is Wesnoth mainly luck and not skill-based?

The topic of luck/RNG in general does also remind me of a quote from Star Trek: It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness, that is life. But Wesnoth is a game, not real life. This is purely my opinion and has no bearing on anything whatsoever; but no multiplayer ga...

Re: Is Wesnoth mainly luck and not skill-based?

A close friend of mine on Steam says how Wesnoth is more luck-based than skill-based. He even said how the Loyalists are really OP, and the top people on the ladder use them. He agreed with the statement that the people at the top of the ladder are just lucky comparatively to who's below them, with...

Re: Non-random Wesnoth : applying the mean effect

From a SP point of view, the luck element doesn't really matter. It is a preference choice and would be an enormous amount of work to rebalance for 'average' damage and entirely not worth it. Especially as people would then complain about the deterministic nature of the game and ability to 'game' yo...

Re: BfW: 12th best free PC game according to PC Gamer UK

Just a little update, PC Gamer UK have re-issued their list this month. Sadly Wesnoth is now placed 21st. I can reproduce the whole list if anyone is interested. But it's good to see that Wesnoth remains in the consciousness of the wider gaming community. On a thought, regarding the ongoing discussi...

I've never had the staying power to properly contribute to this project, but with the recent call to arms I'd like to bump this thread.

I will take a look at people's scenarios/campaigns.

Re: New Campaign "Rise of a Outcast"

You upload campaigns to the official add-on server, then anyone can download it. I'm not familiar with the process at all, but you could check out the wiki or ask some of the other forum members.
