Re: The end of wesnoth (campaign idea)

Sounds good. I am about ready to publish my first completed campaign (I have published several incomplete ones, but this one is going the distance.) If you want any help, please let me know.

Re: The end of wesnoth (campaign idea)

In other words, you figured out what you wanted to happen, then you started putting it together, right? That can be fun, especially when you test it.

Re: The end of wesnoth (campaign idea)

The first scenario did not work right when I played it. The Orcs were impossible to beat, so I had to change the coding slightly. Anyway, back to your campaign... If you cannot find the error, then, with your permission, I would like to have a go at it. I am wondering if there is a parallel between ...

Re: Yet Another Music Guy Looking to Contribute

This may be a stupid question, but I would have to download 1.4 to play your campaigns then, correct? I'm willing to, but I don't want to make a 150 MB download for no reason. :) I'm afraid so, since I have not been able to upgrade it to a later version of the game as yet. I am not even going to st...

Re: The end of wesnoth (campaign idea)

Is it coming up with a box when you try to test the campaign that says something like "Unknown scenario: The Fall" ? Sometimes that means your scenario ID does not match up with what you have in the _main.cfg file, other times it is an error in the coding that is very hard to find. Sometim...

Re: Yet Another Music Guy Looking to Contribute

They are on the BfW 1.4 servers. I have not been able to update them yet. I hope to upgrade all of them to BfW 1.6.2 (the latest version of the game that I have.) It will take time, though.

Re: Lost passphrase for my map-pack ...

I had a similar problem with my campaigns, and I do not know who to contact about it. Perhaps try sending a private message to a developer? Personally, I am considering updating the entirety of my campaigns (to Wesnoth 1.6 branch) and simply making my changes then. But that would be a lot of work......

Re: Yet Another Music Guy Looking to Contribute

Well, I have no music for any of my campaigns (that I can remember...) If you want to take a look at From Darkness to Light or Forty Years Exile and you come up with any ideas for music, they would be most welcome.

Re: The end of wesnoth (campaign idea)

Well, I guess this would be an alternate history, then. According to Under the Burning Suns and its offshoots, Wesnoth fell because the mages felt they were more powerful than they really were, and tried to raise a mountain into the sky as another sun. They failed, and the mountain fell back on Wesn...

Re: SLOW Performance Issues: post here to Help

Nothing has been installed since at least a week before the problem started (with my campaign, that is.) The one with UtBS has always been there through three operating systems and four reformats. I may have made some major mistake in scenario coding without knowing it, but I have not found any. I t...

Re: SLOW Performance Issues: post here to Help

Computer stats: -System: Windows XP Pro SP3 -Computer: Intel Pentium III processor 731 MHz, 576 MB RAM -BFW version: 1.4 I have had problems with loading saved games. For some reason, when loading a campaign I am currently building, it takes about 5-15 minutes to load a saved game. This was not a hu...

Re: New user feedback/questions

Once again, how does a user playing a tutorial improve the game at all? Does the game commit improvements to SVN while users play tutorials? I do not know that the tutorial improves the game , as in Battle for Wesnoth itself, but it does improve the user's game, as we would say in chess. Of course,...

Re: New user feedback/questions

Agreed. I rarely bother to play game tutorials with much thought - if I get a new game, I quickly skim through the tutorial (and maybe not even finish it entirely) in order to get to playing the real thing ASAP. Tutorials are often way too simple and require me to spend time on unskippable boring t...

Re: How many healers?

I most often play as Elves, so I am concentrating on Scouts early on (to grab villages), then Fighters (or Archers if the front line is far away) complemented by Shamans and Archers (or Fighters if Archers were recruited first.) The exact number of healers I use depends on several key points: 1. How...
