One thing I find insufficient about that list is that it only lists the obvious traits. Often, when leveling, certain units get increased defence that is amazing. I generally find that it's only trolls (the ones who don't try to win) or newbies who choose the same color as another person (when they're host). It's annoying, but most people can deal with it.

The only way I see for this to work is if leaders take the xp from the unit that killed, which is undesirable anyways. Yes, leadership is overpowered, especially if it's not your king, and can stay at the frontlines at all times.

These are more balancing issues. Heavy infantrymen and their advancements generally don't benefit much from traits, except intelligent and quick, but all units benefit (somewhat) from this. Can fearless be added to the trait pool for them?

Yes, that's pretty much the idea. Attacks are supposed to hurt the enemy more than the enemy hurts you. But remember, playing defensively means that the enemy gets to choose when to engage you, which is not good if they have leadership or are lawful or chaotic. Don't forget to take villages for gold...
