Re: Runesmith line plus other stuff

oh, sure, there are at least a hundred more useful things... but that doesn't change the fact that it's distilled awesome and even the player whose unit just went flipping through the air is going to feel better about that bit of slaughter.

Re: Runesmith line plus other stuff

Realistic kinematics say that it's going to be a powerful uppercut- but cartoon kinematics say any sufficiently large force that doesn't explicitly push down... lance attacks and fireballs (possibly other magic) and a number of side-sweeps seem like places that would fit.

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

:D II think trying to add bells and whistles before the basics are done is how something like this dies. Look at how wesnoth was origanally developed. Art and code for the the new intedface need to be the focus. Options come later.

oops, for some reason I wasn't remembering the neck gills and the hip-fins had stuck in my mind.

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

"amphibious" /"aquatic" (without the semi) both those terms have connotations that I don't particularly want...amphibious doesn't necessarily refer to frogs, but I can't get the association out of my mind. ironically, on review, "amphibious" as a scientific classificat...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

This may be a silly question; but why build a brand new rendering engine from scratch when I know there are at least a couple open-source ones with large followings and support? Isn't that the sort of reinventing the wheel? Why not pick one (CS and OGRE spring to my mind) and weld it on to Wesnoth i...

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

Semi-aquatic by nature, merfolk can breathe both water and air without difficulty. They are pretty thoroughly aquatic- being naturally suited to water and disinclined towards land. The term would probably be "amphibious" or simply "aquatic" (without the semi) This is probably an...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

The other concern is that houses are much more complex to build than trees. Meh. At the scale we're working with so far, it's not hard at all to model a decent house. Texturing would be the hardest part, and that's probably just me because texturing is my weakest point. It really depends on ...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

it's an idea, though I think the scale issues are going to be much more pronounced if you do that. The other concern is that houses are much more complex to build than trees.

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

With trees you just limit the density; forest hexes have between 3 and x trees (x being some number we determine to still not be crowded), then based on that we set for each density what the minimum distance between objects is and make sure to leave an opening where no trees can be placed for units ...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.

Why not do the base terrain (flat, mountain, etc) by just setting values in a terrain generation algorithm. You're going to have to either make complete hex models that fit together or do smoothing at the hex-edges, why not let the rendering program do that work for you? I'm also guessing you'd want...

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

"Clothing itself is a sign of status among the merfolk and many materials are prioritized for more practical applications, so commoners usually go without it. The clothes merfolk do wear serve to decorate the natural form, not to shroud it, as they see nothing vulgar about the body in its natu...

What's in a Wose?

This thread is a place for continuing a conversation started here regarding the lore and history of the Wose. A place to philosophize on the nature of Woses, and question if they would smell as sweet were they to have another name. The Woses are an ancient race of enigmatic tree-like creatures, almo...

Re: EVILEST's 'Chaos' stuff

Stand back everyone; It sounds like Zero's volunteering to be awesome again- but only to make room for Evilist to be awesome... like a Gallagher show; this much awesome needs space. (Don't worry, even behind the plastic you'll still get some on you.)

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

I decided to go through the critique in detail, and felt like some of it could use response. If it seems like most of it isn't corrections, that's because I'm still focused on the "What are the Wose" part of the discussion, not the "clean up description and grammar" part, plus, a...
