Re: Heir to the Throne plot/dialog discussion.

That'd be me. Good to know. :) Sure, "skilled and courageous" sounds more fitting there. Right then. I've always rather read that as implying that Eldred was just waiting for the right moment to execute his plan during the battle. To an observer, it'd simply look like they suddenly turned on the ki...

Re: Heir to the Throne plot/dialog discussion.

That makes sense. Its just that the wording comes off as somewhat unclear/ambiguous, and I'm wondering if that was deliberate.

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

There absolutely ought to be a Drake/Saurian campaign - I've written up an outline for one but stuff got in the way. I know pretty much exactly when it ought to be taking place though. When? :) And well, the thing with an Undead without the dark mages is that undead creations are canonically somewh...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

I agree with you but technically decent into darkness is an undead campaign because the protagonist becomes a lich and more importantly you can recruit undead through out the campaign. Fair enough, I guess, but I'd still like a campaign with a ghost or skeleton protagonist, I think. For that matter...

Re: Writing assistance.

I've put up a thread specifically for discussing dialog/story editing of HttT, if anyone's interested.

Heir to the Throne plot/dialog discussion.

Yes, another one of those threads. :P It was prompted by Sapient's suggestion in my last thread: https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=45239 So, I've been going over HttT (version 1.12.6), specifically the story/dialog, and I had some thoughts on how they could be improved, but thought I s...

Re: Writing assistance.

I don't know, but since the thread seems to have died almost four years ago, I'm guessing no. I recall a number of threads discussing improvements to HttT's dialog and plot over the years, but I don't know if any of those efforts ever got added, even partially, to mainline. Its a subject I'd certain...

Writing assistance.

I'm a long-time fan of Wesnoth, but my skills and interests lie more in the direction of writing than coding, music, or graphics. So, I'm putting this out here: if anyone wants assistance with campaign stories, dialog, or proof-reading/editing of narration/dialog, I am interested in assisting (time ...

Re: Some campaign ideas.

Hello there! You have suggested quite intriguing stories for campaigns. It would be worth your while if you coded them yourself. WML is not that hard to learn and most new coders start off by editing an existing project such as A Simple Campaign. However, there maybe someone willing to code it for ...

Re: I just killed Rakshas...On Nightmare in "An Old Friend"

That's awesome, nice job! It's always interesting to see that no matter how impossible the author tries to make a scenario, Wesnoth players will always manage to find some way around it. :D Due to the way RNG works, their's really no such thing as an unwinnable battle in this game, short of a time ...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

Yeah, I think humans are over-featured. Dwarves and elves get featured quite a bit, of course, and the orcs are often used as villains and even got their own mainline campaign, but I'd like to see more on the factions that aren't the generic Tolkienesque fantasy staples. I've been out of the Wesnoth...

Re: What are the worst units in the game

I'm not a fan of ulfserkers.

They're expensive and strong enough to be annoying when facing them but too fragile to be worth their cost.

Re: Would you date an Orc?

;) I'm just being silly, bit I've noticed how much attention is given to female Elves in fantasy games and wondering about other races. In most fantasy games and litereature there are Half-Orcs, meaning it is possible for Orcs to breed with Humans. Those could be hybrids as a result of dark magic t...

Re: Movies discussion

I saw Spectre last night. Their were a lot of things I liked about it, and a lot of things I didn't. Still, it would work fairly well as an end to Craig's Bond (in fact, a sequel might well ruin the ending).

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

Actually, Wesnoth elves are quite different from Tolkien elves. They're not immortal, for one, as I recall (though I suppose I could be wrong about that- I don't recall a source). Also, the multiplayer factions have very little to do with the campaign stories, and to the best of my knowledge, no el...
