Re: Items help

Here are two examples from UtBS with a lot of irrelevant code removed. The first gives the unit a ring of speed when it enters the hex. This is about the bare minimum code required to add an object to a unit. The second example shows how it is usually done in a game. It enchants a weapon, but it has...

Re: Are Damage Calculations bugged?

how often one can see a 3.8% chance come true It doesn't sound like you've been playing very long, because that kind of thing happens all the time. You should expect to see something similar in every scenario or multiplayer match. (It's only 1/26 after all, not something like 1/1000.) Personally, I...

Re: Poll: Best new campaign of 2018

You seem to think that everyone plays all of the UMC campaigns, but they have some reason not to vote in your polls. I think the real problem is that most people haven't played more than one or two so they don't feel comfortable declaring one of them to be the best.

Re: Novice campaign feedback

Yeah, the difficulty ramps up pretty fast at Siege of Elensefar. There have been lots of threads about it and how to beat it. The main thing most people agree on is that you do need close to 200 gold and several level-2 units. But, if you keep playing Wesnoth, you will eventually be able to beat it ...

Re: Secrets of the Ancients (Undead Campaign)

Glad you like it...and welcome to the forums!

I'm a fan of connections between campaigns myself. I wonder if anyone has found the SotA connection to HttT. I haven't seen anyone mention it yet. (And I don't mean any of the places that are in both.)

Re: Even more zombie sprites needed

I tried drawing a zombie...it didn't work for the original purpose. Then I read about spider moulting It's an interesting idea, but you are suggesting a significant change in game play to cover for our lack of art skills, which seems fishy. It also ignores several facts about molting like: The spid...

Re: Even more zombie sprites needed

I'm a little confused. Are you saying that you drew the body of the spider upside-down, but left the legs right-side up?

Re: Have an side AI confront a given enemy side

What may be missing is for a unit-set to travel toward tha mass of its ennemies You could figure out where the center of mass is with nothing more than WML, then move your units towards it. Store all the locations on the map into an array. Then, for each unit, store it's reachable locations into a ...

I can consider array indices only if there are integers ... for example: "array[2]", but not "foo[text]"
No, that won't work. Another common case is "foo[$index]". However, I think all the other cases would start with "$" or white space ("foo[ 100 ]").

Re: WML Syntax Highlighting for Kate/KWrite

Kate also highlights array indices like this: stored_unit[1].moves. Could it be prevented by requiring a non-alphanumeric character before the opening bracket? (This is new within a few months. It used to highlight indices normally.)

Re: Animate hidden unit's attack

I've done this before, and it works fine: Use a [for] loop that does something like:

Code: Select all

[item]
    ...
    halo="image-"+$i+".png"
[/item]
[delay]...
[remove_item]...

Re: Multiplayer Replay Analysis

1) This is really supposed to be about multliplayer matches as it says in the title. Campaigns are played in a totally different way. 2) You won, so it must not have been that bad, right? It's much easier to critique games you lost. 3) However, you did do something questionable that I could point ou...

Re: Orcish Campaign: The Founding of Borstep

Oh, okay. In my defense, I wrote this about seven years ago. Thanks for your work on this! I'll update it when I get home. Now I'm really confused about why it worked for me though. I'll take a look at the replay too. Edit: Okay, after looking at your replay, I triggered the assertion failure myself...

Re: Orcish Campaign: The Founding of Borstep

What else can I do to debug this? I guess...remove events from the scenario until replays work? The "start" and "enemies defeated" events are really long and probably not involved, so I would start with those. (If you want to refactor the WML while you're there, be my guest! ) Next, there...

I found a couple of bugs.
I can't reproduce either issue in 1.14.5 or 1.14.4. I tried reinstalling TFoB from the server too, and everything seems to work fine.
