It has been about 5 months since you posted, Ken_Oh. Are you still working on Wesband? I've been looking forward to progress on this project and I hope it hasn't disintegrated.

I did far more coding/creating than playing. It seems the coder faction is overloaded.

It is [allow_recruit]
not
[allow_recruits]

In other words, it is singular instead of plural.
Hopefully that will fix it.

Making a faction is already enough trouble without trying to mathematically balance units. Just have fun with user made factions and play-test them until they are generally regarded as balanced (if ever). There is no need to attempt to come up with some "scientific" balance mechanism or "proof" that...

The "Mercenaries" era has the "Emperor's Guard" which is basically an oriental faction. It may not suit your needs overall, but it may be worth checking out. It has ninjas, samurai, a basic gunpowder unit, etc. If nothing else, it may give you ideas. :)
