Re: Battle for Wesnoth shown on a PC gaming site
It's good to see small time * custom PC builders providing open-source alternatives in their choices. Heck, I'd wish NCIX--the biggest online computer hardware retailer here in Canada--would offer something similar to this in their custom built PCs. * I said a small shop because this is by no means ...

Re: I'm impressed
any chance you just don't have that many add-ons (yet)? Somehow I doubt that add-ons would play a significant role here. Sure, loading up the main menu might have taken a few seconds longer, but I imagine there would be no difference in the load times of mainline scenarios given that they use the d...

I'm impressed
I don't know what changes occurred internally, but the load times between 1.6 and 1.8 has been night and day for me. Whereas loading a save file would usually take 30 seconds back then, now it's taking only 5 seconds on average. Regarding bugs, I've yet to encounter any through in playing Delfador's...

Re: Iron Man Mode
Don't treat just the symptom, look into the problem instead. Try playing through a campaign and never load up a save just because you've lost one of your leveled unit (pinch yourself as self-punishment everytime you failed to do so, or use another method to remind yourself). It is not nearly as fun ...

Re: General Criticism of the Mainline Campaigns
Here's what i think about the gold problem in SP after playing "Invasion from the Unknown" episode I. One of the scenario "Over the Sands" has minimal amount of enemies that could a serious threat, yet i was fooled into thinking that there were significant amounts of orc/human re...

Re: Unreal Engine now free for non commercial use!
Apparently games made with UDK can be distributed granted that they are absolutely noncommercial. This means that you must not use said work to advertise, promote or in any way benefit yourself or a third-party commercially. The grey area would be where if you made a game and distribute it for free,...

Re: A balanced 1vs1 map is not symmetrical
Maps can be symmetrical and fairly balanced as well, we just need to make it so that no side(s) can capture a village in the first turn and restrict the amount of castle hexes as to force the leader to stay on until turn 2 to recruit more units. This leaves players with two choices: 1) Do i recruit ...

Re: Unreal Engine now free for non commercial use!
Does this mean that distribution of content under the U3 engine is also permitted provided that they are not used for commercial interests? I'm curious because if users are indeed able to create games and distribute them for free online, then it would open up a world of possibilities that are curren...

Re: Sudden crash
I'm downloading 1.6.5 as you've said in hopes of this being fixed. Will report back on my findings about this soon.

Sudden crash
Not sure if this has been fixed or not, but i see no thread pertaining to this in the first couple pages of this forum so here goes. Yesterday when i'm playing 6P team survival, the game suddenly exited on me and the Wesnoth application disappeared from the taskbar when i went to check. Now i though...

Re: how do i edit units from addons?
If you still can't find it, simply search "wesnoth" on your hard drive. This will no doubt bring up any wesnoth related files and probably the main folder itself, so there is no way this could go wrong, unless your operating system doesn't have a search function?

Re: how do i edit units from addons?
Wesnoth utilize the .CFG file format to store information such as data on units and maps. To find these, go into your wesnoth folder and go into the following folder structures "data" -> "core" -> "units". Once there, you will find all the units in mainline and can edit...

Re: Wesnoth 2.0
I see Wesnoth going up to a point where everything is polished and most if not all goals are met by version 2. Sometimes i fantasize about something major happening in the process of making that shift, such as a complete move to using 3D sprites and mapping like how silvertree initiated it but keep ...
