Re: Weight of Revenge

Thanks! Always good to hear from someone who likes the music. Hopefully I can find the time to write some more for Wesnoth.

Re: Weight of Revenge

A good converter program for mac is Switch. You may need to buy the ogg. format though. The download is free, and you can convert mp3 to wav without payment. Why would you convert .mp3 to .wav? That would be going against everything a .wav file is ;) It gives you that analog crunch and silky high e...

Re: Weight of Revenge

Listening to it again, I can see what you mean about it not sounding entirely "Wesnothian". Didn't really think about it when I was writing it...just felt like playing around with my voice plug-ins. If someone finds a use for it that's great - if not, I'm certainly not offended :p. With that in mind...

Weight of Revenge

It's been a while since I've contributed, but here's a new one for gameplay if you guys like it.

Re: It's been a while...

Good thoughts guys. I'll be back in town next week and tweak it a bit.

Re: Legality of using the music?

Fair use generally covers this sort of thing. Using the music as a background for the entire episode would probably be pushing it, but using clips would be considered fair usage for journalistic purposes.
Lot of grey area on this.

It's been a while...

But here's another one for your consideration. Turned out maybe a bit schizo, but I still kind of like it.

I compressed at VBR-6. I can't remember what the standard here is - I can re-upload at higher or lower bitrate if needed.
I'd also like to stick with "Heroes Rite" as the title if that's alright.

Re: GPL Policy

I for one have no problem with my Wesnoth music being used as Jetryl describes, although I certainly don't speak for the other composers. My other work that is already licensed elsewhere obviously couldn't be included under those criteria (which was the question that started this whole thing). GPL d...

Re: GPL Policy

Wow, had no idea there would be such an explosion over this - took me twenty minutes just to read through all the opinions :). I can understand the desire to keep everything in the game neatly under GPL. Unfortunately, GPL just isn't a valid way of licensing music - there's just no such thing as "so...

Re: Just messing around...

Wise words from TimothyP...
I also noticed you used the word quantize - I would avoid quantization like the plague when composing wesnoth-style music. It's a great way to suck believability right out of it.
Also, the expression knob (or wheel) is your best friend!

Re: (re-post) Heroes Rite

It's been a while since I've opened that session (I think I've got it backed up here somewhere), but I'm pretty sure the drums were EWQLSO taiko and snare patches.

(re-post) Heroes Rite

Glad to see the forum's up and running again. I had posted this piece just before the crash. As I remember, reviews were mixed - but it could at least be put on the available music list for campaign developers. Hate to see it go completely unused... http://dougkaufman.net/wesnoth/dougkaufman_heroesr...
