Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability
Megane is right. If you're using horsemen against healthy melee units, you're doing something wrong. Notice that charge only works on the attack, not on defense. This means that you can use the ability selectively against units with weak melee attacks. So there really isn't any excuse to be engaging...

Re: double attack (special attack)
Wouldn't it be less complex to simply give the unit twice as many strikes rather than making it into a special ability? Unless this ability only works when you're attacking, and not defending (which is what I'm interpreting with this).

Re: Ladder for teams
Use the same ladder system I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, because there isn't a ladder system in BfW. There's nothing stopping people from having clan wars though. One can simply use pen and paper to tally up the results of each match. So to answer your question: Anyway, would this be po...

This doesn't necessarily violate RIPLIB. If the unit's damage goes up by at least 2 when it levels, it'll always do at least as much damage as it did before. For example, let's say we gave this to a Troll Whelp for some reason. When he leveled into a Standard Troll, he'd go from doing 7-2/9-2/11-2 ...

That would seem kinda counterintuitive, seeing as the ability gets weaker as the unit levels. This brings up that commonly used four letter acronym that I can't seem to recall at the moment. Also, this would probably have little practical use in actual MP, because level ups don't happen very often. ...

Why is everyone comparing a bat to an ulf? I think people are forgetting something very important here. An ulf has horrible stats for its cost. Its only saving grace is that it has berserk, which is a double edged sword, and makes the unit very situational. It's not supposed to attack units with a p...

Re: Faster higher level healing
Any healing thats less then 8, or not accompanied by cure (IE those +4 healers) would give +1 more health for every level the healing unit has beyond 1. Would this include resting? If so, how would this affect "healthy" dwarves? Since it effects all faction units it should be pretty balan...

First of all, the stats on those units are way too strong. Here are the attacks for the Great Mage (same level, same tree): melee: 9 - 2 ranged: 16 - 4 (magical) This is yours (Platinum Mage): melee: 11 - 3 (magical) ranged: 15 - 6 (magical) + Ability Not to mention it's probably going to retain its...

I've always pointed out that a Dark Adept is more useful than a Great Mage in magic because if a Great Mage comes across a drake alone it's dead and for the same price (assuming you directly bought and didn't recall) you could get several DAs to kill the drake. That example is a bit extreme, since ...

One of the things that I like about Wesnoth so much is how nice (most) people who play pick-up games are. I'd like to emphasize this. I know that free games tend to have crappy personalities everywhere, so I'm really surprised that the Wesnoth community is real friendly. Now, I don't play much on m...

Pikemen also have 40% pierce resistance. What DT is saying is that with the javelineers, you can retaliate AND resist the ranged attacks from ranger/marksman. Pikemen can resist pierce, but the ranged attacks (especially that of the marksman) is still formidable. Being able to retaliate to ranged a...
