Re: Formal critique against Khalifate faction.
Those look great, but some of them are a little too similar -- maybe they are candidate designs for the same unit rather than all intended to be different ones? If they are all supposed to be different units, I think they will be difficult to distinguish in practice. I'm not an artist myself, but I ...

Re: Formal critique against Khalifate faction.
It is so secular that Muhammad himself was afair called Amir (of the faithful) Well, Jesus was called King of Kings and Lord of Lords (among other titles), but that doesn't make King and Lord religious titles (although the concept of divine right does make that a little muddier, I think most people...

Re: Does any UMC feature camel or elephant based units?
The Khalifa have a line of horse archers, too. I don't remember the unit names, but you can find them in the Khalifa addon.
I think at one point in their history they had camel riders, but they were eventually axed for more conventional cavalry.

Re: Wesnoth 1.9.1
The multiplayer server for 1.9.1 is up and running. This server can be only be used to play with other 1.9.0 users.
I'm guessing this is a typo and should say "other 1.9.1 users"?

Re: More mainlined small maps
Isar's Cross is a popular map because games played on it are very short, and luck plays a large role, so unskilled players can still win sometimes. For an unskilled player, three short games, one of which you win by luck, is probably more satisfying than one longer game which you lose because of you...

Re: Axial Tilt of Wesnoth
I also forgot to mention that seasons that are due to an elliptical orbit wouldn't affect the day-night cycle at all. They'd just make the sun closer (larger-appearing, giving more heat) in the summer and farther (smaller-appearing, giving less heat) during winter, but it would still rise and set at...

Re: Seasonal advantages
Alternatively, there could be no axial tilt at all, and the seasons could be caused by an elliptical orbit, making for two summers and two winters a year... An elliptical orbit doesn't actually make for two summers and two winters a year. The sun would be at one of the foci of the ellipse, not the ...

Re: Demons faction
There's also the Devling faction in Era of Myths.
And yeah, I think as far as finding something like this in mainline it would probably be axed by NRIW.

Re: The Order of Classical Wesnoth
You forgot to add: * No custom eras, except those which are as well-balanced as Default. (Which, AFAIK, is currently none of them, but some may be at least moving in that direction.) * Willingness to play on something other than Isar's. Not necessarily a commitment to *never* play Isar's - if you ru...

Re: Default Timer Settings
I didn't even know until seeing this thread that movement doesn't count as an "action". That makes no sense to me. Movement takes time and attention and if that's not reflected in the next turn's time budget, it just runs your time into the ground even if you're not deliberately delaying (...

Re: RNG superstitions
- Heavy Infantry nearly never make both hits. Unfortunately, the same goes with the magical Dark Adepts... Not at all. When your unit will survive unless two dark adepts both make both hits against it, that is exactly what they will do. (Especially if the unit was your leader.) When a thief steps i...

Re: Mabye northerns balance needs a second look
Northies have a problem against *random* undead because a balanced initial recruit set is usually poor against undead. (Although I generally don't include an assassin in my initial recruit for exactly this reason, you still want more trolls and orcish archers and relatively fewer grunts than vs. oth...

Re: Mirror matches to flip one alignment (where applicable)
That way it could be implemented with more than one faction, and if it can be relegated to random, it gives some more variation to the matches. Tought, playing dark loyalists against normal drakes could be something strange, or the slaughter of Dark Drakes against normal undead. I think this is an ...

Re: NARMIIW - some kind of no-random-mod
Changing defense into a new kind of resistance? Doesn't that make slow and poison a guaranteed success against everyone all the time? I realize making it impossible for 1 hp units to miracle-survive is probably intended, but guaranteed slow/poison is a balance difference... Plague and berserk being ...

Re: RIPLIB & the Merfolk Hoplite
The Hoplite also gets 20% resistance to blade, impact and fire, 30% to pierce, and an extra 10% to cold (for a total of 30%). Which is convenient, because otherwise steadfast would do basically nothing for him. An alternative to fix the RIPLIB problem would be to change the triton's pierce attack to...
