You can accomplish something very similar by having more than one side controlled by the player.
(For example, in Northern Rebirth, the player controls as many as three sides.)

so... why don't you make a dummy unit that has a movement animation of falling into a chasm? Probably because he wants it to work with any unit... Precisely. note that you can use the item tag for this, in combination with halo. [...] If you can manage to make a falling/sliding/... animation for a ...

Have you looked at [move_unit_fake]? Thank you for the suggestion. I have looked at [move_unit_fake], bit it won't work for me for three reasons: It animates walking/riding/etc., and I don't want the image to be animated. I want the image to slide upside down, and [move_unit_fake] has no way of doi...

Someone else had a similar issue recently, gave up in the end, and achieved it in a different way. The thread is here . Although it may not have an answer, it has at least one potential workaround. Yeah, I read that thread before posting. I have a similar method in place now, but the problem with i...

Sliding an image

I want to "slide" an image from one hex to another, but don't know how to do it.
It would be fairly straightforward if an [image] tag had offset attributes, but it doesn't.
Does anybody know how to slide an image, or at least how to display it with an offset?
Thanks.

Question about southern coast geography

I want to write a campaign that takes place on the southern cost of the Wesnothian continent (what's the continent's name, anyway?), starting in a small coastal city located at the intersection of a rather large river and a road running between two larger cities. I looked around for a map or descrip...

I wasn't saying actually make the top of the waterfall be chasm or anything like that[...] That part of my comment was in reply to "Some Guy I Know". IMO, a single-hex waterfall should be of type "chasm" because it should be impassable to anyone but fliers. (A person can't swim or walk over a water...

I would advise doing the waterfall the way the chasms are done, if that makes sense. Maybe it doesn't The problem with a chasm is that it goes down one side and up the other. A waterfall goes down one side, then stays there. For example, in the map fragment __ /Ww\__ \__/Wf\__ \__/Ww\ \__/ , how wo...

So what would one do when one wants a waterfall in a river that flows from south to north, or south-east to north-west? Rotate the map? Seriously, this style of object has limited utility, but where it can be used, I think that it adds a bit to the ambiance of the map. I suppose, though, that you c...

what would it look like with a guy standing at either the top or bottom of it? The type of the waterfall (bottom) hex is "chasm", so walkers can't stand there. (The waterfall is made to be generally impassible in this map.) If a walker goes to the top of the waterfall, then an event is triggered th...

Animated Terrain

Dave wrote:... rather than theorize about what looks good and what doesn't, someone just needs to contribute animated terrain, and we'll decide if we like it or not.
Well, here's a preliminary idea for a waterfall.
It still needs work, but it shows that the current engine (at least v1.3.4) can animate terrain.
