Re: Invasion from the Unknown (1.9.2) for Wesnoth 1.4

Yeah, I DID notice some spelling and grammatical errors throughout the game, but I dont play these games much for the story anyway. If you'd like, I could go through the game again, and note these mistakes for a further tweaking and send you the revisions. My eyesight is too poor for making campaign...

Re: New Unit- Bomber

This smacks of the Goblin Demolition team in Warcraft. They're used to simply blow up. Also the "good guys" had the Dwarven Demolition as a counter. They were mainly used to blow up rock obstacles. Another factor you should think about is 'what if they're attacked first". They're wearing explosives ...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown (1.9.2) for Wesnoth 1.4

This was an excellent campaign. It has surpassed Northern Rebirth as my favorite. The new units involved were superbly done. At first, I was sitting here thinking, "These chaos/demon units are unbeatable and I'll definitely complain." Then I did what I always do when faced with something tough, I ba...

Re: Dungeons and Dragons rule-set, and battle system.

I have to agree that the D&D battle system is far from perfect. It just gets more and more convoluted every single time they advance to a new edition. I'm still shaking my head on Sorceror's having a Touch/Ranged attack to choose from in feats....Touch...ranged....I just can't get it clear in my min...

Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability

Besides, if you're hiding behind a horse won't the enemy shoot the horse? And then you're left with a cavalry without horses on a open field - useless. You missed my addon to the "hiding behind the horse bit". However, the horse would be exposed instead, opting for a chance at losing the mount. Per...

Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability

It would perhaps increase your defensive percentage by 20%. so my 40% def on grass becomes 60% by hiding behind my horse? It's like my own personal castle! For cavalry! I'll make sure to lug my horse around with me wherever I go! Apparently, your brain is geared only for sarcasm, or you'd re...

Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability

The only thing I can think of that might help would be a dismount option for defense purposes only. I got the idea from real life cavalry tactics, where they would dismount, then force the horse down and use the horse itself as cover. This would be for defense only, and would cost 2 of your movement...

Re: Statistics per unit

It would be nice to view detailed statistics/logs per unit, but I think the right place for this is after the scenario (also after multiplayer game), or through some submenu. Displaying information which does not influence player's strategy is IMHO wrong. Especially for new players, it is distracti...

Re: Statistics per unit

I like this idea too for the same reasons. It's just extra fun for those who like statistics. I also like Irrevenant's idea to add # of kills to the character as well. You could go further with the kills and have listed what type units the character "finished off", but that may be a bit too much. Wh...

Re: Should ghosts have ZOC?

Since it probably won't be changed, you can reason out that a Ghost, due to the fear most have when encountering an ethereal being, uses that for his/her ZOC. Heck, Zombies, although level 0, should be able to instill the same "I don't want to brush near this stinking animated corpse" ZOC.

Re: Directional facing graphics should be removed

I agree. I hadn't played much Wesnoth in a while and once I downloaded the new version, I was staggered to note some units would face different ways. One of my dwarven Lords was facing west and all the others faced east. Yeah, it would be different if facing played a role, but I don't see that happe...

Re: Is there a way to get a score at end of campaigns?

Good idea for a guy with only his second post. I agree and know what you're talking about. Some people, of which I am one, love to revel in math statistics in relation to strategy. Perhaps instead of just agreeing with you, we should be coming up with a method of scoring? How would this be done? Thi...

Re: Re-balancing the horse unit to increase survivability

He does have a valid point about the common sense of the horse unit. Bladed attacks wouldn't be able to deal the double punishment they inflict in Wesnoth in a real life situation. They'd be lucky to be able to manage a swing in the face of a charge, much less their entire attack doubled. On the oth...

Re: Earthquake, flooding, lightinings & c.

I don't know if it would help, but the rain cycling has been done in some games. The weather front's move to affect mostly movement. Hearts of Iron 2 has this, and it makes you "hold off" on that invasion of Russia til some of the snow clears, or you can go ahead and watch your units flounder. HOI 2...

Re: Gryphons standing over water?

Due to the gentle updraft generated by the wavelike motion of the aquatic terrain....

Actually, the above is just BSing. It's not just the Gryphons, but all flying units, such as the majority of Drakes that "float above water". But I don't feel anything will change due to this impasse of logic.
