Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
About the comments that it is not clear how the GPL applies to art or music in a game. IANAL but it seems pretty clear to me it does apply. Source code can have data in it. Why should the art and music be any different? From my POV if you add GPL art and music in a GPL game it is pretty much as if ...

Re: My latest project -- a digital collectible card game
The link given in the first post is argentum-age.com and does not work. It seems argentumage.com is the correct one. Is/Will it be open-source?

Re: Using Wesnoth Art in a free web-based game?
We recently rehashed the status of how GPL applies to the music in wesnoth in another thread: http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=40087 Sorry, I could have posted a link to that earlier in this thread, it is definitely informing my ideas here to some extent. I can't really say for su...

Re: Using Wesnoth Art in a free web-based game?
Yeah, I agree on the images: If you make an image from GPL sprites the image is a derivative work and using it in a web-game is distributing the images to the users, and thus they are entitled to the sprites as the "source". It does not however make the (server side) program that combinde...

Re: Using Wesnoth Art in a free web-based game?
[...] Edit: Taken to an extreme, the argument would make the whole GPL vacuous. What if instead of distributing programs, I distribute "web-based installers". Does this mean I never need to release the source of anything? Edit: I guess that I'm to some extent wrong here. Depending on what...

Re: Using Wesnoth Art in a free web-based game?
I am not a lawyer but I can tell you this: This has no clear answer and has as of yet not really been tested in court. Most likely you have to license your entire game under GPL if you include those images, ... but: if it is web based, or even a browser game, everything that happens on the server si...

Re: Wesnoth Browser-Based RPG
Just posting to tell you that _this_ is the best thing that ever can happen Most game projects die because the "leader" doesn't program. (Have you read the attract artitsts sticky?)Glorfindal wrote:I don't really need programming at the moment. I can do that myself.

Why would you need that? You can run two instances of wesnoth?MetalKing wrote:Another Matter concerning the same Issue is load (run) two Maps at same Time in a Single Game.

Re: Footpad + ulf v undead, overpowered
I might not be the most experienced player but i just would like to throw in some ideas: The UD player might be able to us the low cost of the Pad to his advantage 1. just defend until upkeep kicks in 2. keep ur own upkeep low by: - using ghosts ( expensive units keep the total unit-count down ) - u...
