UI - difficulty column in load screen
Because we can switch difficulty mid campaign it is possible to have saves with different difficulty levels.
It would be great to have a column in the load screen showing what difficulty has the save been made at.

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.
One interesting concept that 3D allows you to do, that does not work well in 2d, is stacking - either with flying units and land units in the same hex, or maybe leaders and normal units etc. Plus the strength could be represented not by a bar but by a number of models. So 3d could be even more inter...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.
Why are people so fond of 3D stuff? Honestly it doesn't add anything to the game, particularly to a strategy game like Wesnoth. While it does not add anything to the gameplay (in fact may make sometimes harder to select stuff) as other games show (again Fantasy Wars/Elven Legacy) it's doable and it...

Re: Question regarding new versions of wesnoth
True, what I suggest would have to be provided by the dev team; but as far as I know, it's relatively simple. It's only an issue if there are a significant number of players who are on older versions - and simply don't know that this game is updated - which can occur if people download it from anot...

Re: Question regarding new versions of wesnoth
I'd be interested; I mean, who wouldn't? If I can download the new content in 5 minutes instead of 30, then why not? If you add an upadate button to the main menu in-game (or even an auto-update prompt, so you don't have to click it all the time), then any player who ever downloads the game can be ...

Re: Question regarding new versions of wesnoth
To add something to the discussion about size benefit - I was providing patches for Wesnoth for a few series (I think in times of 1.3.x) and generally they were under 10mb I used 7zip compression, but even with something less effective it should be a huge difference. Preparing such a patch took arou...

Re: Wesnoth II - Wesnoth 3D.
Anyone interested in playing/creating 3d wesnoth should play Fantasy war series (with the Elven Legacy sequel and its expansions). It is mostly a 3d recreation of Fantasy General system and hence plays very similar to Wesnoth. It's a great game, 3d adds a lot of great effect to fighting but from the...

[SOLVED] 1.8.0 does not start on Windows
Using Windows 7 when I try to start the game I get "The application was unable to start correctly (0x00000005)" All the 1.7 versions up to and including RC1 worked just fine... Did anyone else run into this? EDIT> doing a clean reinstall of the game and restarting the system helped. Still ...

Re: Laurels showing the campaign difficulty
That's a very good idea, it would make things clearer, and by the way allow campaign creators to use custom ones.zookeeper wrote:Good idea, but I'd rather show the laurel in the difficulty selection menu instead. For starters, maybe it could just be overlayed on the difficulty icon.

Laurels showing the campaign difficulty
Currently we have laurels showing which campaigns have been completed. However they do not show on which difficulty they have been finished, which is a huge difference. This could be done either by using different colours (slight problem emerges from the fact the the number of difficulties can vary,...

What's wrong with 1.8?
The files for 1.8 were uploaded to sourceforge quite a long time ago, yet still there is no official announcement. Does this mean that there is some problem ATM with 1.8 or can we safely use those files?

Re: zoom-out view
It's in Preferences under General/Hotkeys. I rather meant an ability of doing it with a mouse not just find the info... BTW it would be great if hotkey menu accepted mouse buttons/movement. This way one could put zoom on the mouse wheel. Current mousewheel behaviour (scrolling) is great when you ha...

Re: zoom-out view
Wow, this is great and I feel silly now... but, maybe it would be good to have an option to do it with the mouse? I for one never knew about it, and it is nowhere in the GUI. Maybe it should be located under actions or preferences?em3 wrote:Heh...

zoom-out view
Current minimap mode shows only terrain and units, without the position of villages, which can be very important to your battle plan. At the same time the main view is too close-up (esp. for people running @ 1024x768) to grasp a good overview of the battlefield. Adding more info to the minimap would...
