Re: A fair handicap?

Zero. Most(?) 1v1 maps are arranged so that the first player's villages are further away from his keep and take longer to capture. That's his handicap. Handicaps should be reserved for evening out matches between players of mutually-acknowledged disparate skill. If you need it for any other purpose,...

OSJ, here's the thread you're looking for: http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24375

Btw, the even/odd version number convention is far from unique to Wesnoth. The Linux kernel uses it, for example.

Re: Thread of the N3T clan

N3Ters, rejoice. I give you mathematical proof that not only are three-way contests imbalanced, but they tend to favor the weakest contestant.

Re: Cannot downlaod addons

Kelben, glad that fixed your problem. As I said, though, you aren't supposed to have to do that. None of us can reproduce the issue. If you see this come up again and you're able to find a recipe for consistently producing this behavior, please file a bug report on http://bugs.wesnoth.org. TIA.

Re: Cannot downlaod addons

Kelben, first of all make sure that the add-on you downloaded is in fact a single-player campaign and not some other type of add-on such as a faction or an MP map pack. Assuming that it is in fact a campaign, try restarting the game and see if it shows up in the campaign menu after restarting. Bugs ...

Re: Photos of Wesnoth players

From my first few weeks of fencing. I really should replace this with a better picture, because my guard is way too far toward center, and I'm mainly an épéeist now.

DiD with new gold system

Has anyone beaten 'A Small Favor' (part 1) in the 1.5 branch of DiD on hard since the switch to the new gold system? It seems impossible now.

They're in TRoW and TSoF, and they're defined in the core/ tree.

Sadly that's a no. If he were strong it'd be 81-2.

76-2

It took me 18 scenarios to set this up :-). Screenshot from Eastern Invasion of a grand knight with an amulet (arcane melee) attacking a death knight during daytime with leadership from a grand marshal.

That one extra recall would make a big difference, although I still suspect you had some luck on your side. I think 120 gold would make a good minimum.

I think you should consider raising the minimum gold a bit for Forbidden Forest. Starting with the current minimum of 80 makes the scenario pretty much unwinnable without savescumming. The rest of the campaign seems a bit on the easy side. Playing on challenging, I reached Forbidden Forest with only...

Never say die

Let the attached replay be a lesson in why you don't concede just because you're down a few units and a few villages.

I'd like to know how exactly you are wanting to create that preprocessor with a Python-like language - Python-like means Python-functionality, means really much work. And after all, your preprocessor would still parse into huge amounts of WML. No, all I mean is syntax that superficially resembles P...

this is not something I really see the need to get merged into our codebase as another maintenance task; but there's no harm in writing your own utility (and sharing it with others) if it makes it easier for you to churn out WML. That's all I was proposing. It was esr who brought up merging it into...
