Aragwaithi are cannon fodder units. They are meant to be attack units and not defensive. About they power that is more a personal question (tactical or of taste). My rogue mages are unable to advance to Shadow Mages. When they advance an error appears saying that there's no Shadow Mage unit! No recall of Reme and Lorin + No recall of any units from previous scenarios.
I don't know if the campaign has been modified, if not this can be a bug, since the campaign in other versions allowed to recall units as "bodyguards" for Lorin later in the game.
