Hmm... I must be outdated. I'm using the linux version and it's 1.2.5 and I do not have a "core" file. All the units I have (all of the "basic" units, the ones that come with the install) are in /data/units The stable version (1.2.x) and the development version (1.3.x) have diff...

In every campaign, I would set my units to ALWAYS be quick if I could. quick+strong for melee units, quick+resilient for anyone else. I'll stick with my strong+resilient units. Strong and resilient help plow though the enemy faster, .. It's always a good sign if people disagree which trait (combina...

Especially to mention for people with slower systems: On my system Wesnoth 1.3.4 was nearly unplayable. 1.3.6 got the scroll speed of 1.3.3 back and scrolls a lof faster than 1.3.4. Applause! :D

Re: The 1.2 trait OOS problem

* release 1.2.6 with the fix and keep 2 separate server 1.2.x and 1.2.6 which means we have the users spread over two servers. Split the userbase to two servers is not really an option for me. It's already hard to get a good game running now. So forcing people to upgrade would be the better option....

Okay, I did a little tweaking on the images and Mordante did implement support for using overlay images to create the border. Compared with the last snapshot from Mordante this looks a lot better. I tested the SVN version yesterday, the somewhat ugly stripe on the left side is gone, the transition ...

* The rectangle shape is back and has a 0.5 hex border. Then why do you add a full hex tile at the top of the map (according to the grid I assume this is an inaccessible hex)? If you have the map grid switched off (like I mostly have it) these hexes look like normal map hexes. This is very irritati...

Traits are usually given by race. Is there any reason that need be so, though? Simplicity - KISS ;) (I know there are already exceptions and I hate that. One exception leads to another which justifies the next ... ) but 2 out of three adepts are quick now, which means they are very fragile now... a...

Size of data/campaigns: version 1.3.4: 25.7 MB (376 kB tutorial) SVN (trunc): 79.5 MB (1.5 MB tutorial) That's bogus data, you probably used your svn checkout with all the overhead of svn meta data/copies.. Yes, that's what I wrote in the second line: SVN 79 MB This is the space I would save on my ...

Wheter a campaign is in SVN or on the campaign server makes a huge difference development wise. Get more involved into the process if you want to understand things. Sorry if my proposal wasn't clear enough. I did not propose to remove the campaigns from SVN. I only proposed to split the campaign fi...

Uhm, the campaigns aren't really a significant part of the download (most are less than 1MB), so doing that wouldn't save much space. If campaigns would be that small we would not have this problem ;). Size of data/campaigns: version 1.3.4: 25.7 MB (376 kB tutorial) SVN (trunc): 79.5 MB (1.5 MB tut...

Re: Scroll the background

I don't care much about how the area outside of the map looks, the void does the job for me ;). I'm not a fan of the current half hexes but I can live with them, also with the implementation of the map border in version 1.3.4 (if the speed gets optimized). Eleazars proposal also looks nice. But I st...

Re: Wesnoth LITE

I was just thinking that, as this wonderful game has increased in generation after generation, so has the file size. I know part of the large gap between 1.2.5 and 1.3.4 is the extra campaigns that have become mainline (at least for a while) in 1.3.x, but I think that for those who have slower spee...

Re: My idea to improve the Drake Glider

Wouldn't this make the new glider less unique and more similar to the burner? -Increase the marksman ranged to 5-3 marksman [..] The burner still does significantly more ranged here. -Increase defense to all-around 50% defense. [..] -Increase price to 18 gold. [..] Some hp changes can go into effect...

As someone cited bzflag: bzflag has a registration system and a censor system. None of them work. The behaviour on the bzflag servers is worse than that on the wesnoth server, although bzflag also has more admins. The idea would be to encourage stable identities and make changing your identity a hur...
