I am not sure if there is already a thread for the best add ons or campaigns.

Re: Wesnoth 1.14.4

gfgtdf, could you please either register an account with NickServ or use Discord?

I just rebuilt and restarted the server. That was a bad idea, see #wesnoth-dev, the server died several times in a row while trying to observe a specific game.

Re: Invasion from the Unknown 2.1.1 [Wesnoth 1.14]

Hm, that would increase the difficulty quite a bit... I also used my prowlers to keep injured units safe, but the two guardsmen are much more durable :/ Nemaara seems to agree with me on Dwarvish Guardsmen being useless in the long term. I don’t know, it seems odd to leave in what is an actual deve...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown 2.1.1 [Wesnoth 1.14]

 I completely forgot that in The Escape you get two Guardsmen on Easy difficulty only. Yeah, nothing accounts for their existence later on right now. Probably should fix that by killing them off during the same sequence in scenario 14 since there’s no in-story justification for their continued ...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown 2.1.1 [Wesnoth 1.14]

Are you 100% sure you did not get any error messages at some point during the initial cutscene of that scenario? Because there is pretty much no other way they would survive since at some point during the cutscene this happens: # # Stash him away for a later scenario # [store_unit] [filter] id=Althu...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown 2.1.1 [Wesnoth 1.14]

I need you to tell me more about how you managed to keep the dwarves past the initial cutscene in Bye and Behold because that’s definitely not intentional.

Re: 1.14.3/4 MP server login error && Add-ons repo access error

The only thing we have is an automatic IP ban on a certain number of repeated login attempts within a small amount of time, but that expires after 60 minutes and results in a very visible message stating you’re temporarily banned from the server when you successfully connect to it. To demonstrate, ...

Re: 1.14.3/4 MP server login error && Add-ons repo access error

O.k. so - a flag/info is set/written serverside, then? Is there the option of a manually initiated override? No such a thing on the server side either, at least not something that would cause a transport layer error (“Connection refused” is not an application layer error, it’s a generic networking ...

Re: 1.14.3/4 MP server login error && Add-ons repo access error

Another thing the makes me wonder is the speed by which the client rejected my access attempts to the MP server yesterday. Might it be that some info is written clientside in case server rejected access from user with certain credentials (pw & username) so that new access attemps are rejected clien...

Re: Wesnoth 1.14.4

To clarify for the audience that has no idea what any of this is about, everyone active in the dev channel knew that 1.14.4 was coming (there was even a string freeze on the 1.14 branch) and was delayed for over a week because of this. Celtic wasn’t an exception and was even told to wait on merging ...

Re: Some suggestions

The Armageddon Drake, Dwarvish Arcanister, and Orcish Nightblade are actually intentionally designed so that they are opt-in advancements that campaign authors can enable in the configuration.

It depends whether you play multiplayer it not. in single player, add-ons you have already installed don't suddenly become infected so it's really a problem as long as you don't install new add-ons.
Or load save files from untrusted sources.

[IMPORTANT] Security advisory for Wesnoth 1.7.0 ― 1.14.3

Hello, As mentioned in the Wesnoth 1.14.4 release announcement, all previous Wesnoth versions including Lua scripting support are affected by a security vulnerability which potentially allows a malicious party to execute arbitrary code through the Lua engine by using specially-crafted code in add-on...

Wesnoth 1.14.4: Maintenance Release & Security Advisory

Wesnoth 1.14.4 is now available. This is an important maintenance release for the stable 1.14.x series including a fix for a severe security vulnerability in the game engine (CVE-2018-1999023), as well as the usual assortment of bug fixes and other improvements over previous releases in this series...
