SLOW Performance Issues: post here to Help

I just installed 1.6.1, and it's quite a bit faster than 1.6.0 was. Thanks, devs!

Re: SLOW Performance Issues: post here to Help

Ok, I've been playing various versions of Wesnoth for a few years now. They've all worked fine, no lag or anything, even in multiplayer. Currently I have two versions installed; 1.6 and 1.43. This is because 1.6 lags like hell. I don't know why; playing around with the preferences doesn't do anythin...

Downloaded, going to go play now.

. . . That is, I would be playing, if I could figure out how to make it work. Sorry, I lack any and all computer skills. Help?

I've been looking around, but I haven't been able to find too many of the kinds of names I think you want. However, let me throw some out there. These are all Mongolian/Islamic titles. Most mean "King" or equivalents, several are derivatives of others. Mir Emir or Amir Atabeg (Governor, roughly) Cal...

I like Massif, actually. It has a nice ring to it. However, it sounds more like the name of a warbeast of some kind then a fighter. Try saying it: "OK John, let the Massifs loose!" Sounds right, doesn't it? Plus, a faction with giant wardogs would just be cool. I think there's already a wolf sprite;...

It seems like a lot of people have trouble with this scenario. I never have trouble with it. Admittedly, I've only played it four times, but still. . . Turn 1 : I recall all of my heavy cavalry (knights/grand knights and lancers), my Elven Riders and all of my healers, then fill the rest of the spac...

danny_california appears to be posting weapon graphics to be used on the actual units, not attack icons used in the attack menu.

That said, I see no crap here, except possibly some of your stuff, danny.

A bit off topic: There's been some debate about whether thunderers use "guns" or not? In the Thunderguard description, it mentions the black powder they pour into their "thundersticks". In addition, during the Thunderer firing animation a little black ball flies out of the tube at the Thunderer's ta...

Berzerker, the context of the discussion makes no sense for your proposal to be true. He means Whelps. What context? Nothing in Higher Game's original post indicates which he's speaking of; and the fact that he claims it's "almost always impossible to kill a troll with only 2 units in the same turn...

I think you guys are talking about troll whelps , lvl 1, whereas if Higher Game is talking about trolls , lvl 2, then a lot of his statements make sense. Trolls would do 28-2 counter-attacking charging horsemen, or base 56 damage; ouch. They do significantly more damage then Orcish Grunts, almost as...

I volunteer to work on better names. You're looking for names for the WarBringer, BattleChief and IceFist branch of the IceWind line, right? EDIT: Well, if you're looking for a Mongoloid influence, try Khan for WarBringer and Jagatai for BattleChief. I'm still looking for Nordic/Viking names. I do k...

I do acknowledge that the Scout lvl 1 has weak attacks. But look at the upgrades: The Rider has a base 21 melee damage (7-3) and base 18 ranged damage (9-2). The Outrider has a base 28 melee damage (7-4) and base 27 ranged (9-3). These are not shabby attacks. In addition, the Scout requires less XP ...

I'm a noob, so correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Thunderers great for taking out pesky trolls? Lots of hp, regenerates every turn, so you want to do a lot of damage on one turn. Enter the Thunderer. . .

Scouts: Scouts are a weak unit, because it's pretty clear the designers think that mobility is very valuable, and the scout is tied for the fastest first level unit (tied with Gryphon Riders and Blood Bats). Peet Mobility IS very valuble. Given equal skill level, I would be willing to bet on a Ride...

I'm on my third play-through of HttT right now (Though I've never gotten all the way to the end), so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right either. However; Fighters: I go for 1 Captain to every 2 Heros, and try to get a Marshall as soon as I can. The second undead scenario is good for getting a Marshal...
