Re: Siege of Elensefar Too Hard

It's a symptom of the game requiring far too much experience for units to level. A mage in a very well played position might have just a 10% chance of dying over a 2-3 turn engagement or so. With 60 experience required to level, it's going to run quite a gauntlet of 10% chances before getting strong...

Re: 1.6 Legend of Wesmere bug in Last Stand

Ok, I see the spoiler, but the previous mission hinted that he would be with me quickly, not in 3+ days or so.

1.6 Legend of Wesmere bug in Last Stand

Windows XP, latest stable version, yadda yadda. Dwarves won't appear. At least, I think they appeared immediately after the previous scenario (where you give them 400 gold to come with you), but upon reloading they aren't present. Strangely, the scenario objectives mention that the mission fails if ...

Son of the Black Eye 1.6 bug

Got back into Wesnoth, checked out SotBE, and catch a bug very early on, in just the second stage (I elected to fight the human army). The map is supposed to end when you put your leader on the signpost, and well, it doesn't. :(

Undead sure are vicious, though. Like the Northerners, they have the first night attack advantage. Unlike the Northerners, they don't get weak over time, due to low quality units. In fact, when they get a "critical mass" of dark adepts, they seem to get even stronger over time! They enjoy ...

Dwarves tend to have a tough time against ghosts, though. Thundersticks require a bit of luck, and the other units get drained. Ulfzerkers at day can do the job, if they can get close enough, but it's still a tough fight overall. The ghosts were helpful in taking water villages. Finally, in a free f...

When I say luck is unreliable, I mean that it became a 3v1 in the end. Someone with knowledge of game theory and other stuff should make a square with 4 players, and what the possibilities are if 1 player becomes lucky. I think a 3v1 would be the bottom right square, where the cartel works together,...

Here's a match that I would consider interesting. I won again, of course, using rebels. It shows that the luck factor can be extremely unreliable in a free for all. If you're too lucky, everyone gangs up against you. If they do, you have to be as skilled as I am to defeat them. I fought un...

For a "first game" he played fine. I play many new players who I would never post a match of, since it would be a waste of time. This guy was good for someone new. Lots of you guys are like Creationists. A new link is discovered, and suddenly, you find 2 more "missing links" to p...

Here's an interesting Knalgan vs Knalgan match I had. Somehow, this guy called pod2 knew who I was. Maybe I should stop making scatological ninja names. I've thought about the use of gryphons in this matchup. I think this guy's initial recruit was decent, but he was too aggressive with...

I wasn't concerned about footpads at all. They're so weak for their cost and upkeep. A gryphon has a higher sunken cost, but its range, resistance (well, bad impact resistance, but that's it), and power make it far better than the footpad. Well, footpads are decent against undead, but that's about i...

I've given some thought to using goblins to counter ulfzerkers, though. A goblin does 3-3 and a grunt does 7-2 base against them. 2 goblins outstrike a grunt, and considering upkeep, are cheaper to make. Since an ulfzerker fight always ends in a kill, the goblin's low damage isn't a problem. Using 2...

And yes, I do know that I would have been dogmeat if he had bothered to make ulfzerkers against my assassins. You don't have to point that out. Just assume that my next opponent will, and what I should do against it. I think trolls might be best here, since they have blade resistance, but I'm not su...

The great Higher Game replay thread!

Help me. This is my best orc game ever against dwarves, but much of it came down to luck. I was overall unlucky statistically, but the whole game changed when his gryphon lost terribly to my naga. Of course, his leader was the luckiest I've ever seen in a game, even getting promoted, but that was wh...

Horsemen are great against dark adepts, but they are also really nice against vampire bats. Making 1 is a good idea. Cavalry have good hit points and cold resistance, though, so they are useful in defense. I like to make a horseman kill and then move a cavalryman in. For a scout unit, they're actual...
