There is a bug in this scenario. There is no turn limit, so you can kill all ennemies, then wait for villages to produce as much gold as you want for the next scenario.

Though I am not an expert, I think that defense is a cheap (extremelly easy to do, extremely hard to counter) tactic. And it is really efficient in matchups that don't favor offense. So in a matchup with neither drakes nor ToD advantage (elfes vs dwarves, UD vs orcs, any non-drake mirror match ...) ...

Just a few things you may have forgotten Worst Scout - Bat The bat is just too weak to have any value. He can die on a single round and, when helping finishing a weakened unit, can die in the process. Having the Ghost on the same faction doesn't help... Except the ghost is level 1 vs a level 0 bat. ...

To come back on topic, I think that there is one specific thing in Wesnoth that is too hard to be fun while playing campaigns.
