This happens though for things like units sitting behind a battle line, an enemy with enough movement will simply move away, run around and behind. We're talking about cavalry units charging head first into a line of foot soldiers then suddenly turning 180º unchallenged to run around and pick off...

Re: Scenario Review: The Sceptre of Fire

(1) What difficulty levels and game versions have you played the scenario on? Medium, latest version (1.02, dled recently and that's what the .app says) (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 10/10, far too hard for medium :( (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Perfectl...

there are probably examples which couldn't be shortened in WML, but please choose one that can't, because I have never found one which couldn't be (although my WML is probably full of them) My most recent example was this: [event] name=sighted [filter] side=1 [/filter] [filter_second] side=2 [/filt...

Erm, I'm aware of this, it's an example :? The point is, MACROS are pre-processing definitions, they essentially tell the game "copy/paste this chunk anywhere you see {MACRONAME}", meaning that for my 20 events of 50 lines each, BfW ends up with 1000 lines of WML. The .cfg file for my map may very w...

Zone of control to extend behind a unit?

One of the annoyances I've found in playing through the BfW campaigns (haven't had a chance to play much online yet), is that the AI frequently breaks a fast unit out of combat, runs around behind the enemy, and kills the weakest unit it can find. This is extremely frustrating and IMO not particular...

[event] and [trigger] (new tag)

This is something that has come up from my forays into WML, basically it's a solution to my massive amounts of code duplication just to get a few custom villages. Yes I've defined the code as macros and am using that to reduce the amount of WML, but the duplication is still there! So, the solution i...

Ah, shroud/fog weren't on :( The map is designed with them in mind, but I had them switched off so I could see just how much of a fool the lich lord of doom is making of himself (how he can manage to die when he outnumbers the other teams by about five to one I don't know, time to make him invincibl...

Hrm, I can't seem to get an [event]name=sighted[/event] to work at all, is it a correctly working event? It won't seem to trigger even if I have two of them with correctly made filters.

Finding/manipulating units on sight and events as functions?

Two issues, one needed, one mainly performance based but still nice to know =) Basically what I want to do, is detect units on one team moving into sight of another, and vice versa. However, I'm not sure how to do this, except to create two events which is going to be messy, especially as I will nee...

Ack, it would be something simple wouldn't it? Heh, was driving me nuts.

Thanks scott! That's that one working perfectly now, 2 down, at least one more map to go (though much simpler objective fortunately :))

Re-using events?

Hey there! I've recently got into making scenarios for BfW, and I'm already trying some more complicated commands in it, however I'm currently stuck. Basically, what I want to do is have a counter listing how many units of a given type are dead. So I figured a name=die event would suffice for this, ...
