I am not sure if assembler is correctly described as being advanced, rather the contrary :)

Re: What was your first Programming Language

My first steps (as stated in the "have you finished your first game" thread) were with DOS .bat files.
First "real" programming then in Turbo Pascal.

Re: Did you finish your first game?

We did have the exception of one text-based game written in html that was so short in simple that even we beginners were able to complete it, but I would hardly call it a game. Mine wasn't HTML, but a simple batch-file based MS-DOS text-adventure. As far as I remember I did finish it, but I am sure...

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

I've noticed that one of the biggest make-or-break factors in how useable a programming language is, is not just the language itself, but the editor. That is very true, and probably the main reason why I for example say that MatLab is still worth its 100 bucks or so (for a student license), even so...

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

If Python forces you to use consistent indentation levels then the student will find out right away if they improperly indented the code. So I would say that is a learning aid, not a learning impediment. That might be true, I do not question Python being a good language to learn programming (I do n...

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

I always use whitespace and indentation no matter what programming language I use Don't worry I also use identation when programming. But: I do not really know, because I never seriously used Python, but I heard that it even matters in Python whether something is a TAB or multiple spaces. I.e. an i...

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

Any High level(perl, python, lua, etc) for beginner program Any low level(C++, etc) for mre complicated program. HTML/PHP/Java for web I wouldn't suggest perl for beginners. lua I do not know. HTML/PHP/Javascript for web. Java for just about everything, in particular quite good for learning, because ...

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

HTML is the basis of any website. Not really the same as computer programming, but useful to learn anyway. For Python I guess it is the case you either love it or hate it. Personally I hate it, but I have friends who think it is great.

Re: What programming language do you prefer?

I like Matlab most. But as Frogger said different languages are best for different tasks, so propably Matlab will not be the best choice for you. I would recommend Java for a start if you really want to do proper application development (c++ if you are a linux guy). Otherwise start with webte...

Apple tighten its fist on AppStore

There was an interesting article published in the NYtimes today http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/01/technology/01apple.html?bl about how Apple restricts the AppStore usage even more. What do you think about it? I guess long-term they will get the same problems with anti-trust agencies as Microsoft, bu...

Re: Great victory for Wesnoth

Still, a joke in very poor taste, and I found ajf's comments particularly insulting. Where I am, this wasn't even posted on April First. It was posted a day earlier, on March 31st. I suppose it might be ethnocentric of me to expect others to do their homework on other cultures, but still, that's no...

Re: Great victory for Wesnoth

There were really anyone who believed this? I mean this was so obivously a joke. There was just no plausible information in the whole text. I liked the part about OOXML but in total it was not that very funny and I definitly do not understand how anyone could have been fooled by it. Cheers, ...

I really liked the campaign. Thank you 8) But there seem to be some problems (i am using Wesnoth 1.3.2): After becoming an stone-statue my druid (its zhul right, i am so bad with names) never recovered. And did not appear in any following scenario anymore, but from the conversations between the othe...

I really liked the campagne a lot. Good Story, a lot of scenarios. I think it is the best campagne i played so far (mostly the mainline campagnes).

Will there be a second part? Like what happens to the child, the life of the child?

Anyway, thank you,
